Title: Finding Your Stall Speed
Post by: FLS on March 15, 2014, 01:35:44 PM
Corner speed is easily figured from your 1g stall speed multiplied by 1.45. The question came up in the TA, how do you find your 1g stall speed?

The quick and easy way is to fly a level 4g turn. The speed where you can no longer pull 4g is twice your 1g stall speed. So if you can no longer pull 4g when the speed drops below 230mph then you know your 1g stall speed is 115.

So you're in a 190?  :D

So 1.45 or 2.45 ?

2.45, it's the square root of the 6g blackout limit which is how we define corner speed. The power off 1g stall is easy to test but the full power 1g stall is easier to test in a 4g turn. Since the square root of the 4g turn is 2, the 4g stall is at twice the 1g stall speed.
