I don't know about anyone else but I miss the old way you had to drive the tanks. I always though it was cool to look around the inside of a Tiger or T34. The new was with the WASD key driving and automatic trans is great. I just miss having to shift and looking around the tank...it felt more like a tank then and now it feels like World of Tanks. I know lots of guys have probably brought this up but Oh well I did again!

Just felt I'd bring it up! :aok

They dropped that because it greatly increased the workload to add a GV to the game.

I feel the proper solution would have been to stop modeling more GV's. :noid

Absolutely not! We need MORE gv's! :aok

looking around inside tanks. seriously? :huh
the first thing any decent gv'er did back in the day was pgup/arrow key/f10 all your views outside of the vehicle.
only slightly less interesting view would be lavatory view inside the train at the strats. which reminds me, we need to have player manned trains.. with steering wheels. :aok

I understand the "eye candy" regarding glancing around the interior of a tank, but stop and think how important it was to actually have that for game play. Hint: it wasn't, not in the least bit. More importantly, it took up a lot of time to model the interior and it ultimately wasted time. I like the TC (tank commander) concept they use now. Ditto goes for the automatic transmission. I'm not sure how or why peeps seem to get their underwear turned inside out regarding the auto transmission, I seem to not have any issues what-so-ever.
Plus, keep in mind the "old way" in driving a tank was much like steering a car. Instead of pivoting to change direction the front end of the tank swung around as it there were tires up front. That certainly was not accurate in how a tank operates. The "new" way is much more proper and obviously much more representative to how a tank maneuvers.
I say HTC is certainly heading in the right direction in terms of GV's. :aok

No tanks are best tanks. :old:

Once again. A perfect model to emulate for this AH as far a GVs are concerned.

If you can find a copy, buy it. You will love the game play.

I agree there is more eye candy in that game, however much of the game play is similar. Little things like the transitioning between buttoned/unbuttoned views are nice.
I wish HTC would develop a more accurate way to model the benefits of the tank commander being buttoned/unbuttoned. Also, the transitioning between the TC's binocular view, gun sight view, etc, could all be "smoothed". Plus, I wish they would accurately model the binoculars of each country. That would certainly add immersion. As it stands in AH, the binoc view is a 0 to 2.5X zoom, but in the real deal most of the binocs were 5-7X with different fields of view. Of course, the Germans were be light years ahead of the other countries in terms of optic quality. Now if HTC were to implement such a thing, I'd hope to see some ramifications for the TC being unbuttoned.
The other thing I'd like to see HTC do is to broaden the damage spectrum. Meaning, have different levels of damage and not just an all or none as it currently is. Not all "successful" hits were kill shots. I think it would be nice to have turret traverse reduced/limited, or speed reduced/limited, or turning radius/turn rate effected, maybe have the MG's damaged, or the reload rate increased (dead reloader?), etc. Also, if there was some way to may fuel as issue as well, that would be nice.
