Title: X52 on Windows 8
Post by: timeisnotlinear on March 19, 2014, 01:30:41 AM
I just upgraded to Windows 8 and everything is working perfect, with the exception of my Saitek X52 mini-stick. It works in the Saitek control panel, but not in game. What gives?

There are inputs, on the X52 Saitek, decided not to pass through DirectInput unless you install the Saitek Control Manager.

There is nothing we can do about that.

Hmmmmm, worked on my old Vista OS before I upgraded. I guess I need to install the Saitek Control Manager, but I don't remember having to do that last time.  :joystick:

The mini-stick, on the throttle handle has never worked in Windows 7.  I have that stick on my desk and have had it for a long time.

Awe man, really? That sucks. I might not have upgraded from Vista if I had known that. LOL

I use it extensively, in flight.  :cry

You could try this work around, open saitek control panel and leave it on the desktop then fire up AH,this sometimes makes a difference for whatever reason.

AH doesnt "see" the scroll wheel on the throttle but if you open control panel then enter the game all of a sudden AH "see's" it. You may have to program the mini-stick in the sst software in order to make it function.

Of course I could be wrong,I havent used my X52 on win7 let alone win8,but I used this work around and have had others try it as well and it seems to work.Although I dont recall a mini-stick specific issue I do know the scroll wheel only works that way!

Well, you had me excited. Thought it might work. It didn't. Thank you for trying, Sir!  :salute

Got it working. Step one, when installing for a Saitek X52, don't install the Saitek X52 Pro Drivers and Software.  :bhead

Had to use a different path to get to the X52 and not the X52 Pro software.

Step two (when using rudder pedals like I am), install the rudder pedals driver first, but don't install the configuration software.

Step 3, install the Saitek X52 software.

Done.  :D
