valid point on ords...but r-dar controll "office" could be hit by rockets....and guns

yeah but it's watch the pilots auger in trying to hit radar and guns :lol

It really stems from the fact we have a single object radar mast. AH1 had a dish!. Ideally we would have two/ three masts which would not sit on this some what "delicate" concrete base we have now.
But we do not want three radar circles because we have three independant radar mast objects..... So to have one/two/three masts that act as one but are independently destructible requires COAD.

If this were to come to pass, there would only be about 3 sorties a month in 190's.. :bolt:

You know because this is coding, Hitech can show the radar equipment as anything he wants, while making any kind of requirement he wants for destroying it. He could just as easily make the radar a mobile unit sitting on the field that a pilot with a .45 can kill the operator and destroy the unit with a few rounds.
How easy was it in ww2 to destroy airfield radar, or the near by radar unit servicing it in German held territories?

Very/ quite difficult . During BoB Ventnor was the only radar base shut down for more than a day. This because ( during the period the LW were actually attacking radar) the LW was attacking masts instead of the radar huts. Masts were these open framed structures that were difficult to destroy.
Further it was not airfield based. Radar was located strategically to provide overlapping cover........... Airfields were located to make best response to incoming or best escort to out going.

Then HTC has chosen to make each capturable base object it's own mini war. From experience, requiring a bomb will not deter the suicide radar porker anymore than he is deterred now.

So, can we have a mobile dar, like this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C3%BCrzburg_radar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C3%BCrzburg_radar)
"The low-UHF band Würzburg radar was the primary ground-based gun laying radar for both the Luftwaffe and the Wehrmacht Heer (German Army) during World War II. Initial development took place before the war, entering service in 1940. Eventually over 4,000 Würzburgs of various models were produced. It took its name from the city of Würzburg as the project leader liked geographical names."

It would be nice to bring the dar near the base which is under attack.

The dar is very important object.......I like the idea of 2-3-4 radar....1 around the base, 1 around town, 1 on the hill top close by, maybe one around the train supply refill station? I wouldn't say they cover the exact same area ....have overlapping rings with say a 40-60% overlap.
Maybe when Waffle adds the new very very close too the GV base ...GV killer base :x .... he will add a few radars around the new bases :)

its easy to gun down radar with one 450mph run with A8 4*20mm on one go.
+1 on bomb / rockets only.
