It was the youth Spring turkey hunting weekend. Audrey called in a nice one this morning. It was a difficult hunt because there was not much gobbling, plenty of turkeys but hard to get them to come into shotgun range. We had to change positions several times over both days. Finally used a big tom decoy that this one came in and attacked.

Never ates a wild turkey before. Are they good? I hear old Toms can be quite tough? Any truth to it?

The only way we've ever had any wild turkey is to fry it. I love frying it up in a cast iron skillet and eating it for breakfast with biscuits and gravy. We've also battered it up and dropped it in a fish cooker to fry as well. We usually just marinade it in either Alegro's Game Tamer, Worcestershire Sauce, or Dale's with a little Zatterain's Blackened Seasoning. Typically, I enjoy it.
