Title: A6m6c
Post by: wpeters on April 17, 2014, 11:48:07 AM
A6M6C   with thicker armored glass in the cabin's windshield (5.5 cm/2.2 in) and armor plate behind the pilot's seat. The wing skinning was further thickened in localized areas to allow for a further increase in dive speed. This version also had a modified armament fit of three 13.2 mm (.51 in) Type 3 machine guns (one in the forward fuselage, and one in each wing with a rate of fire of 800 rpm), twin 20 mm Type 99-II guns and an additional fuel tank with a capacity of 367 L (97 US gal), often replaced by a 250 kg bomb. with self-sealing wing tanks and a Nakajima Sakae 31a engine featuring water-methanol engine boost.

Please HTC.. I dont mind if it has a  Eny of 10

Sadly this is the case.  Im pretty sure the m6 never saw combat or deployment to operational units but I could be wrong.

If it at least saw combat, I believe this is sufficient according to HTC.  If I can ever find the thread where he stated this, I'd quote it. :headscratch:

I dunno..  I'm cool with more dive speed, but I think the armor and other extras would detract from the Zeke's overall performance.  Besides I like that it takes big brass balls to fly that kite...

According to this book, A6M Zero in Action (http://www.scribd.com/doc/62236630/4/A6M6c-Model-53c), only one A6M6c Model 53c was produced.  It was considered to be a disappointment because the engine used on the A6M6c, the Sakae 31a engine, produced less power than previous models and the water-methanol boost was prone to malfunction.
