The recent threads about RTFM and PDF manuals got me thinking.
AH has a great film utility... how about (someone) making some quick training films, about 5 minutes each.
You load the movie, you start in the cockpit. The message buffer tells you that "E" starts your engine(s). You sit back and watch as the plane throttles up, rolls, and takes off, the whole time the message buffer is giving helpful tips.
Each one is real short, less than five minutes, so you can load whichever film you need tutoring in and get right to it.
I'd be willing to do a couple when I can. I figure with the really amazingly wide field of experience that the AH community has, you could have a complete simple-to-advanced catalogue within a couple of days if a dozen or so contributed.

I had a film library of those kinds of movies 2 versions ago. I lost all of them when the $#@$ server deleted my files without telling me. I hope geocities BURNS for that.
The new website (where I only have 1 film, emergency landings) is at www.crosswinds.net/~the475thfg/index.html (http://www.crosswinds.net/~the475thfg/index.html)
Of course, these films are only for the P-38 (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

ive got carrier landing and carrier takeoff done so far, they are posted on my site, will do more soon.

I think the main problem is that newbies want to jump right in and play the game right away (i'm the same way).
So how about this. When you launch AH it automatically expands the message window and fills it with host/system messages on important keys. Like "e" to start engine, and so on.
You can disable it in the setup menu, but it is on by default, like combat trim.

Great. It's good to see that this has been thought of before.
I agree, Regurge (that newbies just want to jump right in... hell, I did)(in the TA) but at least this way they can be actually flying (uhhh, riding) while they're learning. Your second point is a great one, but tht would require HTC spending some valuable programming time that they could be spending on building my Mosquito FB Mk.VI

Maybe I'll do some basic-basic ones myself, but what should I do with them then? I don't have my own website.

I had some basic training films with the p51 back in beta and a number of guys used it. Problem is that every 3rd update of AH comes along and the old film just doesnt work.
I usually have film when someone in the help & training section asks for it and ive tryed to help out. Film is the best way to deal with the learning curve.
Dog out..
