Some of the tanks still had the reactive armor blocks on them.  That can't be safe.

I wonder how the police managed to shoot him. Did they cut the commanders hatch open and pistol him to death?

No, a copper simply climbed onto the tank when he got it stuck on the central barrier of a motorway, opened the hatch and double tapped him. :old:

One of the cops was a tanker and knew how to open the hatch. (at least according to the article)

One would think that you couldn't just open a tanks hatch from outside like that. Maybe he didn't have it secured as he thought nobodys going to climb on the thing at speed.
