Title: VOX Check
Post by: Raven3 on May 08, 2014, 08:54:51 AM
Is There a way to check to make sure you are transmitting VOX? My reception is fine and when I press my Mic button The Voice Channel (T) gets highlighted but I cannot hear myself, which I think you should be able to do.  I know my mic is working outside of AH as I have made recordings with it.  I have Channel 5 set to Mission ( have tried different frequencies) and my Voice setup is:  Internal mic IDT High Def all the way up,  as well as the mic DB boost. Playback volume centered.

I have read the Voice help instructions and the FAQ as well as the Instructors site help page.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

BTW I have no Use Wave In Box that is shown in the Sound setup help page

Yes, just tune yourself in the vox box and use range...you will hear your own transmissions.

Tried both (T) and (F12). Nothing.  Do I need to be tuned to a frequency, say 101 in Channel 5 or just leave it set on "Mission"

BTW I'm in the On-Line Training area could t5hat be the problem?

Tuning to yourself means you gotta put you own name into that box. The use 't' to speak on that channel.

Should not. Voice works the same across all arenas.

Depends on the squad. They either use Channel 4 (squad), or are using a specific channel number, for example 123.
Using a number instead of the integrated 'squad' channel means players not members of that squad can tune to their squad channel too. 'Squad' channel 4 is limited to squad members only, that's why many squads don't use it.

Some squads "claim" one of the 100-199 channels...which allows non-squadmembers to communicate as well.
The channel labelled "squad" is a private channel that only other memebers of that squad can access.

Well I think I am beginning to understand. There appears to be a fairly steep learning curve for Newbies on the radios and VOX.   I have read everything I can get a hold of.

Thanks again
