Title: Radio hosts
Post by: RotBaron on May 10, 2014, 12:36:39 AM
Just thought I'd share:

The three hosts I've been listening to most lately when I have the chance

Clark Howard -  the Don't get ripped off guru                       http://www.clarkhoward.com/

Gary Kaultbaum   - Wall Street/Finance analysis & more       http://garyk.com/

Dave Ramsey - y'all know how to find him

Clark has tips to help save money in almost any situation, give him a shot.

So who else do you give your ear?

I've been into podcasts more and more lately. Terrestrial radio with all its commercials and censorship just doesn't do it for me. Tons of content is available all for free, it's awesome. Dan Carlins hardcore history is a must listen, especially the series on Ghangis Khan.

I used to stay up listening to Art Bell many years ago.  He had some absolutely hilarious bits, and once in a while some real though provoking ones as well.  But that whole show went to crap after Noory took over.

I listen to a lot of am radio these days.

I like Rush, Mark Levin, Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis, George Noory, Art Bell and some Alex Jones... although he gets on my nerves after 30 minutes or so  :lol

Is Art Bell doing radio again? (that would be exciting)  Or are you talking about re-broadcasts of old stuff?

Mark Levin is good, but get all fired up to go be pssd rest of the nite, can't do that too often.

George Norry is good for the soul, even if it's just to laugh or speculate; I like how he basically lets any guest say whatever it is and you make the decision...

Actually I'm listening to Art right now and sadly it's a rebroadcast from 1999. KTRH 740 out of Houston (over the computer with iHeart radio) plays a show called "Somewhere In Time" starting at 10 CST on the weekends with old Art Bell shows.

Hey man could you provide a link or more info so I might be able to check it out? Sounds interesting.

Oh man - Ground Zero is hilarious - love it.  We really only catch that when we're driving through Houston though

His new one, Blueprint for Armageddon is amazing

I've listened to all of his history podcasts (even the ones you have to pay a couple bucks for) they are all as good as the one about Ghengas khan  BUT...You have to...have to..have to listen to his podcast Prophets of Doom. I've listened to it twice now. I'd like to say its my favorite one. But picking a favorite is impossible

I'm a history podcast junkie.  If ya ever want any ideas on good ones let me know I've got a ton of suggestions I can send your way :aok.    I stopped listening to the radio years ago   Ill work around the house all day and the wife will ask me "whatcha listening to?"  My response is usuall something like " ohh just a 199 part podcast on the history if Rome"   I'm a history geek I'll admit it. Lol.

I'll have to look into podcasts it seems. So they are mostly or entirely commercial free?

I've only listened to one in the past, fantasy football related...there were some commercials, not many.

Yes the radio and commercials in general are enough to just decide to listen to the wind driving down the road.

Last year having the sunday ticket for nfl allowed me to avoid a lot of commercials on Sundays. I'm debating about getting it again this year, although I did miss the commercial breaks at our local Redskins bar and the opp to chat with fellow fans.

Commercials during NFL games are relentless.

Any podcasts on things like medieval warfare?  Ghengis sorta close...

Something on the Teutonic Order would be fascinating to me.

At least two "financial radio hosts" have been tried & convicted of scammin their listeners into various schemes.

If you trust someone who told you to invest over the radio.....there is a word for that.

Clark, Gary & Dave don't tell anyone specific companies to invest in/with. Rather they discuss trends and objectives... About the closest thing I've heard any of them say is Dave recommending index funds, but not which index funds.

Now occasionally they will be asked about specific stocks, companies, funds, etc., they will render an opinion of the stock/fund/co. but not a recommendation to invest.

Geezer: you aren't referring to these guys are you?

The guys I am referring to are either in court, waiting to be incarcerated, in prison, or broadcasting stuff that leads to all three.
