By no means I am an expert on aircraft but this one has me baffled a bit. Why on the Tu Tu when you drop a notch of flaps the aircraft goes noes down? all other aircraft that I have flown in game goes nose up :joystick:
-
I haven't seen this, have to test it.
-
I've noticed it also. Can't recall if gear has been down all the time or no.
-
My guess would be the center of lift is moving aft as the flaps extend. Not sure what type of flap the Tu has though, so I could be wrong.

No. The flaps can be activated at 200 mph and do indeed dip the front of the aircraft. This is a bomber you have to maintain 150 mph for its best handling while landing. Hit 2 or 3 notches of flaps and lay off the throttle to much and before you know it your wobbling and have to gun the throttle to level. Its forgiving and easy to handle but its kinda quirky. Quirky like the B26 but not in the same way.
You can easily force overshoots in the TU. And if your empty, maybe even if your not, you can wep climb well enough to maybe get a nice look at the fighter that just over shot you. Just remember to bring your flaps up first.

It does it gear up about 180 when you can deploy flaps, the nose dips it's like they are working backwards.....very odd :airplane:

Flaps disrupting or diverting some airflow over the horizontal stab perhaps?
-
Wezel,do you have combat trim on? It seems to me that CT is off on the TU,usually if you hold a plane stead for abit it will trim itself to hold that attitude.
In the TU I find it noses up no matter how long you hold it steady,I found once light it seems more dramatic. I had sent a note to HTC about this, however I didnt notice the nose down dip. Of course I wasnt checking that just the CT.
:salute

:airplane: You are real close to correct answer! I have never flown a "real live TU2", but have flown the B-26C a good bit and it does the same thing! When discussing it with a factory rep, was told the 10 degree down flap setting forced air to strike the bottom of the horizontal stab, hence causing the nose to pitch down. I would not do this if you down around 150IAS, but 175 and up it would.
-
109s also nose down (in real life anyway) due to the shifting of center of lift. Some AC pitch up, some down depending on design.
-
Just think of how a tailless aircraft like the Me 163 flies.

Combat trim is on when I am in bombers.

I'm sorry if I went off topic, but I am not sure if I like the TU-2, with 4,000lbs of ords I climbed to around 16k to barely do 300mph, when i let loose the external ords I do get some extra speed out of it, I think 315mph. It does climb pretty well, great gun package in the front but pretty poor in the rear.
Honestly its a change, but I would rather just take the B-26 instead to have the better defensive armament because the the Tu-2 simply isn't much.

So would I, but it all depends where and how you are using it. The Tu-2's strength is getting in fast and striking very hard at the same time (that's why it's the perfect CV killer). It's not made for loitering over the target - if you have to do several passes in the face of serious opposition, the B-26 is more likely the better choice
