I keep reading all these threads, and seeing in game comments about 1 country talking smack about the other country(s). It's really starting to get old ! "oohhh the Bish horde" or " the Rooks are Alt monkeys". Are there daily meetings where each country plans their code of conduct that im unaware of ? are there country specific login messages that tell the players how to play for each country ?
C'mon guys, they are freaking chess piece icons. nothing more. All sides HORDE, All sides HO, All sides Climb for advantage. I've played for all 3 sides and heard the same complaints from each. Each chess piece is comprised of players from all over the world. from all different walks of life. no one side is guilty of any specific type of play.

huh, sounds like one of those "bish" got hit a little to close to the mark :D
Personally, it's a game, who cares what any one says about one country or another.... well except the OP. :devil
-
1. rooks noe raids are at 20k
2. bishops always horde a single base
3. knights dont care about taking bases only furballing.
semp
-
In the long run, all countries behave in a similar manner.
I usually fly Bish. 50% of the time they're organized like a bag of marbles. 25% of the time they can grab a field in minimal time. The rest of the time they look for good fights. How is this different?
Play the game. Fight your fight and have fun. Ignore 200. :old:

Knights are organized 25% of the time, able to quickly take a base 10% of the time, and look for furballs 75% of the time.
Having flown against and on all sides, knights have the best pilots on average.
Rooks are more similar to bish, save organized only 40% of the time, and look for fights more on average.
Rooks have the nicest players probably. None of the SPIEZ thing you occasionally get on bish, less of their "were so:gr8, we woned the war!" attitude, and less of the knight's egotism.

I think a lot of it happens in one of two ways.
1.) Players crawl out of the noob pit and are taught the ways of the side that they fly for. Whether good or bad they eventually fall into the rut of that countries stereotype.
2.) Players are chased out of a country because the general player base dislikes the way that player does things, or the player gets irritated with the way the politics of that country are progressing (this could be just about anything).
I'm not saying that this always happens but it's my theory. When I see a new player I try to teach them the ropes of the game since there is so much to it. I also try to teach them some of the basics of fighting so that it doesn't seem so daunting when they get into furballs.
I also think that right now there may be a shift occurring with the stereotype of one of the countries. At the beginning of the last tour my squad switched countries. Before we did I noticed that a lot of knights seemed to be playing more passively (and not the typical end of tour score padding). After switching to knights, the rooks seem to be more aggressive in dog-fighting terms than I remember them.
These are just my theories about the way things happen but I could be imagining it or delusional, take your pick.
-
The countries are probably all the same with any perceived difference being just the result of statistical fluctuation or observer bias.

I think it depends on the time of day and day of the week. Certain players and styles on at certain times.
-
Bishops are more prone to stuttering punctuation marks.

I don't care one way or the other. I started as a Bish but am in a squad that switches to the low side when we can...so long as the 12-hour rule doesn't leave anyone behind. I like most everyone in each country. We are all friends here. I think we tend to forget it is a motherflipping game. Put us all in a banquet hall with some beer and it would be one hell of a party, especially if strippers were involved.

hush, we dont do that in the knights, today was by accident :D.

I like watching some Bishop players complaining on 200 about how the Rooks and Knights have formed an allegiance to gang up on the Bish, but when it's the Bish and Knights or Bish and Rooks ganging up on the other side you don't hear those same Bish players complaining about it anymore. :lol
I have flown on all three sides and I have heard the same complaints and stereotypes on all sides. The truth is all sides do everything. All sides HO, all sides climb to alt, all sides gang, all sides complain.
I just find it absolutely hilarious hearing people complain on vox about how this country can only fight when they have altitude over our base, but once we push them back and WE have the altitude over THEIR base these people no longer have a problem with people flying at altitude. Remember folks! It's only ok if YOU do it! :rofl

lol at this thread.
All the stereotypes are true at some level.
One note:
some of the knitrooks actually fight when the opportunity is given. The bishs - very rarely, maybe only Tongs or some masochist knitrook emmigrant.

Stereotypes are the crutch of fools and the insecure.
I find all players in this game fight. It is just that not all fight by the same rules or in a way that meets the expectations of others.
-
I have flown all sides and do not agree with the OP.
The nits love a good furball and actually work as a team in the furball.
Rooks do their own thing 90% of the time
Bish won't fight unless they out number you .. I have even had 2 v1 and a 3 v 1 where the Bish ran. I have never seen nits or rooks do this.
The only thing going for the bish is they have strong leaders and it shows in their organisation.
All the other stuff about alt monkeys and hordes .. well all sides do it, who cares.
-
Bish just roll bases when they have a horde, rooks are running alt monkeys and knights don't know how to defend a base or shoot taters!
And everybody is crazy except myself :old:
-
and knights don't know how to defend a base or shoot taters!

Knights can definitely shoot taters.…well at least compared to me they can. :old:
-
The pendulum swings to and fro. It doesn't stop. All three chess pieces do relatively the same thing from day to day. Though, there are some squads that readily promote certain activity such as massive hordes for absolute dominance when taking a base (no chance of defense. Where is the fun in that???), or those squads that are poster children for the pick-n-run game (why stand and fight and earn a "kill"???).
I see it more based on the squads than an entire country.
-
This is an interesting set of opinions here, me likes this thread.
-
There are three types of people in this world. Those who can count and those who cant.
Ill be changing countries today. Ive flown knight now for 3 months or so. Nothing against the knights at all...<S>` It seems to me that some of the more well rounded players often rotate. Like someone said, its just chess pieces.

Stereotypes are the crutch of fools and the insecure.
I admit that i am a fool. Thanks for reminding me to this little secret.
I find all players in this game fight.
Err... well, since running away counts as noble air combat, yes, everyone fights. But again, i am the fool.
It is just that not all fight by the same rules or in a way that meets the expectations of others.
See what i wrote above. No need to justificate your suckyness though. We know it right. Still, no idea how do you know what fighting is since you have never tryed it through all theese years.
You were asking me not to make fun of you otherwise you would report me and my entire squad (lol), yet its you who are trolling back when noone is talking to you. Geez dude...
-
started out with Bish tour 75 , lots of very well organized noe missions and joint squad missions , all ways saw typed on country "everyone join up... mission posted we need numbers for base capture" lets win the war mentality (best mission planners in the game in my opinion)....
years later moved to Knights , occasional mission much more of where's the fight mentality , often said over range "no need to climb they will come down to us" -or- "dont worry there will be another map (best fighter sticks in the game in my opinion) ....
in the last 8 months been flying Rooks nice balance between Bish and Knights , often see missions posted good cross between noe/high alt/gv base takes , also a number of pure furballers , can do attitude rarely see or hear people complain (strongest all around players in my opinion)....
my observation the basic complaints exist with all country's but definitely a difference between each countries battle philosophy , probably why people will choose a chess piece to fight for , its the individuals who make up each country and im referring to the people who stick to one side or the other , staying with a country long term has given me this opinion

From my 9+ years of nerding in this game my OPINION (which doesn't really matter) :
Knights
--Praise Jayro for some odd reason
--Won't fly in a mission unless Jayro is the leader
--Will furball at a base with no one defending the white flag town and get a base taken while they are over the base
--Don't really respond to ALERT messages, like at all
--Complain about Bish horde every morning and complain about Rook horde every evening as if it changes
--Decent teamwork and mediocre six calling
--Hosts the Fun Police Training Center, will come really close to killing all FH's. Once training is completed they are sent to Bish
Bishops
--Will horde all day if they had the ability and proper leaders online
--Could win every map within an hour if they had numbers and again the proper leaders
--Does have a bad habit of running from a fight at the first sight of death or first sight of losing
--Usually accompanied by altitude monkeys
--Great teamwork and decent six calling
--Respond to ALERT messages faster than any country
--Occupied by majority of AH LA7 dweebs
--Most hated country for some odd reason
--Host the Fun Police Headquarters, will kill FH's in a heart beat
Rooks
--Will also horde all day if they could but will also furball if it seems more interesting than a horde
--Rooks host the leaders of the altitude monkeys, altitude apes
--Six calling is pretty non-existent but maybe it is just my luck
--Respond to ALERT messages pretty slow
--Occupied by majority of AH P51 dweebs
Just my two cents, but I really don't care which country I fly on. I just rather not fly Bishop as they are too keen of
killing Fighter Hangers and all I really want to do is keel. But who cares about stereotypes, is it really something to
whine about? Just fly and keel da enemy. As long as you are keeling then you should be fine. I like keeling.
Hope everyone here has a good day :old:

Agree. Ferrets switch sides at the first of the month, in order to avoid all that nasty BS. If there's any meaningful difference between countries, we've not observed it.

All sides suck...the amount depends on which piece i decide to fight for at the time.
Observations... all sides do the same thing from time to time but with differences.
Bish smash and grab and don't care...young dumb and full of .......
Rooks smash and grab but have finesse to their work so it doesn't look like they are hording as such(although I have noticed the bish way slowly evolving)They are like aristocrats... the old slap the face with a glove and pistols at 10 paces
Knits smash and forget to grab....they drop everything and then forget why they were doing it and do something else. 15mins later remember what they were doing and try to finish it...but alas they forget this again..... I think this is commonly known as dementia
:D

Why do I get so many kills of rook and knight bombers in 37mm field guns then? I assure you they like dropping bombs on FH's.

We also switch around now and again...mostly in gv's. Some are more aggressive than others...guessing each group is kind of like a net that catches somewhat similar players, though there is no precise sorting. There are a lot of good pilots and tankers on every side...which is why we switch, its good to spend a little time with everyone.

Wow, I haven't been playing for long, but yes, most P-38s I see on my team (the Knights) are 90% rockets and bombs.

There’s not that much difference between countries….Yes there is.
The Bish do horde, but they do it well. They’re a lot more together when it comes to taking fields. It’s true, they have motivated people that the rest take notice of and they take fields well. Moreover they take fields back very well. Their defence however is not that frightening.
The Knights have the best permanent pilots, taking out the crew who swap regularly. The hard core Knights who are always Knights are potentially the best pilots in game. I’m not sure that war winning is high on their agenda though. That said, the permanent Knights don’t have to take fields. They fight better in one v one’s than the Bish.
You have to factor in squads and individuals who go from country to country (notwithstanding the 12 hour rule). They don’t count in this opinion. I wish some of the hardcore country loyal crew would swap occasionally. It would be good to get to know them.
The Rooks? No idea. Mirror analysis is pointless. We seem to almost be OK in taking fields but that improves markedly when crew are focussed. I see some good sticks in Rooks, but I don’t know what they’re like to fight against. We changed to Knights for a month or so when the v-crew became Rooks and one night I flew Bish because, because…..I forget.
That’s only an opinion over 73 tours. Others have a far greater sample range to gather info. There is a lot more ack hugging and running away now. There’s a far greater percentage in GV’s now which is detracting from the core of the game. The numbers seem to be dwindling ever so slowly, though just one red guy not running or circling ack is all that’s required.
The big maps are fairly redundant now. It is better with the small maps and everyone crammed in. It makes for mayhem and chaos which is good.
For mine, I don’t care for graphics updates. They’re fine, but obviously it has to be done to attract more players. I'm also not enamoured with any additional aircraft being added. I would though like the field ack halved, the maps in rotation halved in size, the scores not to be re-set every tour, the amount of GV spawns halved. I get concerned that one day I am going to log on and Aces High won’t be there.
I don’t play any other game on line (or off for that matter). I would hazard a guess and say numbers have gone done by 60% over the past few years. Unfortunate that the silent majority that enjoy the game and the friendships have to suffer the “inner circle” with their repeat posts and use of emoticons as a substitute for thought and word.

I've said it before, and I will say it again....
The AK's rotate each tour to a different country. Other than the stalwarts who are country loyal, all 3 chess pieces are the same. All sides have the same whines about the other. It's really funny actually. If it weren't for the loyalists, IMHO, I couldn't tell you what country I am flying with. Others may feel differently, but I have been flying since 2006, and for the first 2 years, I was on a squad that was nit only. I was glad when I joined the AK's because they rotated.
If you are country loyal, you really need to reconsider as you are missing out on a great part of the game. Country loyal players tend to develop an "us" against "them" attitude. When you rotate, even if infrequently, it relieves a lot of tension you may feel for your adversary. It's really hard to be a giant sphincter to someone on 200, because he may be the one who is giving you a check 6 next week.
I have used this analogy before. It's like that Friday after thanksgiving flag football game you play with your friends. You choose sides, and play your heart out. Afterwards you  and talk about the great plays... plays both sides made.
It's a game people, not war. There is no "them", only "us".
YMMV

I was said country loyal player. I joined and was randomly assigned the rooks I ended up after 2 months in an old rook loyal side. I started to develop a hate towards pilots that smacked me over and over again. Until a a squadie of mine and another rook player had a word war and my countryman was reported by their whole squad and squelched did we deside to leave the rooks. I agree that leaving ur country can and does alleviate a Lot of the hate, that being said I am still new to the game at a year and a half and there are better players, I now take a loss as a learning exp and know that I may win the next fight. Those enemy's I had early on are now motivation to get better.

if some players are giant sphincters as you say, switching countries wont really do anything to change them. there's more than a few people that rotate at will and they will never change. you dont really have to change countries to make friends either. I hardly ever change and I have a couple of friends here and there.
but I do agree that some people need to understand that it is just a game. too many individual and squads will hold a grudge that is just laughable.
I have gotten into many arguments with some players here the bb for some reason or another. and more than once I have gotten pm's from people who are surprised when I stick around to help or defend them while flying in the ma.
and more than once I have gotten comments about how glad they are that I got shot down. I just laugh about it. go get a new airplane and forget about it.

I've flown Bish and Alchemist for the 3 years I've been here off and on. Reading on his thread has got me in the mood to do some side jumping to see what the bigger AH world is like. The thought is similar to stepping on to a foreign planet :noid

Guessing "i hardly ever switch sides" means that you stay on one side and hardy ever move - guessing, you can wing with players from an other country :rofl

Knits smash and forget to grab....they drop everything and then forget why they were doing it and do something else. 15mins later remember what they were doing and try to finish it...but alas they forget this again..... I think this is commonly known as dementia
:D
:rofl
Three-up would love to see you come Knit for a tour and drag Nikonguy over here with you. Would be a blast winging with you gents :aok

The bish mentality spawns from ancient history when every new player was bishop by default. That made them usually the largest country and they learned to use raw numbers to overpower the defences. Even after the assigned country became random for new players, years after that I remember seeing a steady jilt in numbers such as bish 180, knighs 120 and rooks 80. This often lead to both bish and knights targeting rooks in huge hordes, especially closer to the end of the war when only 2-3 fields were remaining. It was totally dumb to play because for a large part of your prime gaming time you couldn't even take off with all fields being vulched constantly.

Thanks M. I’ll talk to the Boss (JR). It would be a hoot. I’m all for it. And your crew are on at some of the times we are. And you’re the sort of pilots I was referring to in the Knights. Top skill, have a go and take a win or loss with manners.
As for Nikon, he is currently in love with War Thunder. He is “backgrounding” on our Facebook page. Apparently there are aimbots in there which you can download. The last post he was flying around in a bi-plane being shot at by Korean War era jets, so it may be a little short in the authenticity department.
But and this is the thing, he did say that there were 50,000 people online with over 1,700 battles going on. Screenshots look awesome too. And he says the flight model is good and much improved. Wrath/Banshee is full on “born again War Thunder” and has cancelled his AH account which is a real shame – good stick, top guy and great squaddie. Didn’t make a sound nor post a self-seeking BBS entry just left. That’s the shame. And that’s one I know.
It’s bit off track, but there’s a few self-proclaimed big fish now and their percentage becomes more when numbers decrease, and that translates to the forum. AH reminds me now of the frog in the pot. Put a frog in boiling water he’ll jump out. Put him in cold water and gradually heat it up, he’ll stay there until he boils.

Wrath left? Jeez... I liked him. Good stick in the 110G or any ride. :frown: :salute
I just can't bring myself to join a game where they actively promote aimbot and other "aids".

When you rotate, even if infrequently, it relieves a lot of tension you may feel for your adversary.
I've never really changed from Bish and I can assure you I have no feelings of tension for my adversaries.
I also see people saying the Bish can't or won't fight, always run, etc. or that their country has the best sticks. DA? I'll even let some of you bring a friend (or two). Maybe it will be a reason for me to log on more than the once or twice a month that I do anymore. I'm rusty but I'll give it my best shot.

When have you seen me vulching?

Bishops are more prone to stuttering punctuation marks.
This from a guy that can't even spell "Flo". :bolt:
-
Or people can have friends on all sides and fly on all sides and kill sides. :)
Just sucks switching countries and coming on and you're on the majority side :bhead

Humorous country overview: :aok
Bish:
- Touch a base of theirs and face getting killed with LA-7s
- Good leaders
- Good teamwork
- Win teh Warzzz!
Knights:
- Best pilots
- What's a base take?
- Best squads are hosted on this team IMHO
- When in doubt, furball it out
Rooks:
- Not enough alt
- Teamwork is meh
- Some pretty good mission leaders
- Hate Hate HATE the Bishops
-
When have you seen me vulching?
If your ingame name is the same, yes; me on the rearm pad quite awhile ago though. Maybe that was just an unusual day?
I'm not saying I don't do it sometimes, usually only in a base take though, so not very often as I don't do the war much anymore...
It doesn't promote combat, but don't think many care/think about that when they do it in non-base take situations.
