Title: a solidworks project
Post by: tmetal on June 05, 2014, 04:02:29 PM
My boss told me to develop some skills with solidworks so that I could better help students who don't know how to 3D model something they need for their prototypes; so I viewed some tutorials and made a few simple models (the 30mm dummy bullet that I 3D printed and posted pictures of on here). Then I got ambitious and thought "I wonder how hard it would be to try and scratch build a 3D model of my favorite mech from MW4 mercs?"  This turned out to be a larger amount of work than I thought at first but it also turned into a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

back story finished. so here she is; a Vulture/Mad dog C.

She is modeled to be 15cm tall, the upper body can rotate 360 degrees independent of the legs, and was designed as 4 different parts to make it more 3D printer friendly (left and right weapon arms, fuse, legs).  Any critiques, comments or criticism is welcome; especially from anybody who does 3D modeling/artwork as a hobby or profession.

Looks way too anorexic to be a Vulture.  Looks more like a Raven to me.

Yeah, she does look skinny without the big LRM20 racks on the sides of the fuse; but that is part of why I like the design...a smaller front and back profile.
