Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info on this aircraft.
This I-16 was part of the Chinese Nationalist Air Force's 24th Fighter Squadron in June 1941 and was flown by Wei Tin Chi. From the start of the Sino-Japanese War in 1937 Soviet built I-15s and I-16s formed the bulk of the Chinese AF's fighter strength. However by 1941 they were totally outclassed by Japanese types like the A6M-2 and Ki-43. Those that survived were gradually replaced by more modern American aircraft.
