Fifi is at The Museum of Flight in Seattle on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They give ground tours for $10.
I'm going to go, perhaps along with Popsman and Tudza. We're going to have lunch at the nearby aviation-themed Randy's restaurant and then go see Fifi.
Any other AH pilots want to go, I will buy you a beer at Randy's and, if you want to go into the museum after Fifi, I'll cover your admission to the museum.
I'll let folks know which day I'm going (not sure yet).
They also sell rides on Fifi out of Paine Field in Mukilteo/Everett. $600 for gunner positions, $1100 cockpit, $1500 bombardier.

Did I ever tell you the story about how I missed the only flying B-29 fly over my head?
True Story.
Were at Shawks house last year at the Dayton gathering on Sunday Morning. My wife sends me in the kitchen for a cup of coffee. I'm fixing the coffee and the whole house begins to shake and rumble. I finish mixing the cup, and walk back out. I ask "What was that?" Everyone turns to me and says FiFi...
Everyone there said my face dropped in the most stunned look of disappointment. I missed the only flying B-29 fly over Shawks house to get my wife a cup of coffee... :furious

I enjoyed seeing her fly when she was here in 2012

P.S. For those getting error messages when trying to post to this thread, you need to erase some of the title text. The BB inserted "Re: " puts the title over 80 characters. Delete some of the title and you should be able to post. :aok

Have fun! Skip Randy's though and head over to Georgetown and have a Mannys or three on the patio at Smarty Pants while watching all the 13R arrivals pass close overhead. Good times.

Skip Randy's?! Sacrilege! A 60's diner stuffed with a couple hundred airplane models hanging from the ceiling and on shelves, a menu with a B-17 picture on the cover and other pictures of aircraft inside, and awesome aviation memorabilia (including lithographs, signed pictures, medals donated from airmen, squadron patches, etc.) . . . it is a place after my own heart.
To Randy's!

Randy's is a fine greasy spoon. A lot of us pilot types prefer to mix it up with biker chicks at Smarty's. And the patio is the coolest unknown place to sip beers on beautiful PNW nights. Enjoy the Super. I'd join you but I'm stuck on the other side of the country at work for a bit longer.

OK, Popsman, Tudza, and I are all set. We'll go for Wednesday, with lunch at Randy's and then check out the B-29.
If anyone else wants to join us, let me know, and I'll buy you a beer at Randy's if you join us. :aok

By the way, the reason the board complains "The message exceeds the maximum allowed length (80 characters)" is because the text in the Subject box is too long.
If you want to post, just delete out some characters out of the subject box and post your message as normal.

Say hi to FiFi for me, I just saw her again two weeks ago when I had to fly up to Salinas (twice, but I won't complain) to do some mustang field maintenance on our museum's plane (which along with one of our T6s was attached with FiFi for the socal region of the tour).
