My grandfather since passed was in the army during WWII
He has a pretty cool picture if a c-47 that looks to be crashed on the beach. Waves covering half of it. No markings are visible . I am guessing either from Guam or OKInawa.
Is there a database to search for more information on this?    I will try and post it soon
Thanks.   Hub

Try finding out that C-47's ID, then you might be able to find de-classified information about that downed plane...

Do you have any concrete info on where it occurred or where and with what unit your Grandfather served ?

				I don't,  I know it's a long shot.
I do know he was at Okinawa, Guam & Leyte.  I Will check the photos with it to get a better idea of which island.
I can't imagine there were too many c47's that ditched right in the beach. Hope to post pic tommorrow

Are there markings of any kind?  If there are no markings at all you'd have to add the Japanese L2D transport to the list of possibilities.

Great call Karnak!!!  After looking it definitely appears to be the Showa/Nakajima L2d. It has the antenna with circle in front and a distinct camo pattern.
