Picked up this new game on Steam over the weekend called Spintires which has subsequently consumed what little life I had left. It's a game where the goal is to simply move or harvest logs from an area and move them to a lumber mill. Sounds boring right? Actually it's a ton of fun as the terrain can be unforgiving as you get stuck in rutted out roads, stall in rivers, and accidentally roll your truck off a narrow logging bridge.
What makes it really amazing is how the terrain deforms as you interact with it. Drive your truck into large mud puddle and the water will properly ripple out, driving in mud will create new ruts, fording rivers causes the water form and flow around your vehicle and possibly push it around depending on it's weight and size. It's just really amazing at how beautiful and detailed the game is, especially since it was a small Kickstarter.
This game isn't for everyone, but if you like off road simulations I highly recommend it!
Anyway I'm wondering if anyone else picked this game up and would like to try working together on a map? Mainly help pulling my butt out of the mud constantly. :)

I have the nasty habit of capsizing my trucks... :bhead And I've seen video's of "Casual", feh. I haven't touched that mode. :)
For the first map, Coast, I spent so much time running my trucks down the roads that almost the entire way was thick mud. Some parts I had to avoid like the plague, as my trucks would capsize faster than a Tiger flips on a bush. :noid
So far I'm have a bit of fun with it. Would be nice if they gave you a "fresh" map, as in roads have been very lightly used or natural paths. We'd be the ones to make all the mess. :) Toss in some rain and what-not and I see a true "Hardcore". :D
Oh, and I'd be up for helping you out on a map. :aok

I managed to get a pile of wood within 50m of the drop off zone then got stuck, drove a jeep all the way over to save it and got them both stuck. That friggen mud is OP.

Hardmode is fun, I just can't get used to quick shifting with the manual gearbox since a lot of the time you need diff lock to go anywhere and shifting between low range and reverse to get unstuck just causes me problems. After playing around on a few maps I've learned to just avoid the roads and cut your own path though the woods. Usually I clear a way with a utility truck and then just go from there. I did get a chance to play with a friend online and the multiplayer really changes the game. Being able to pair up a logging truck with a utility truck or a tow truck really helps things out, just be prepared for a long gaming session as the MP games can't be saved. :(
I'd love a map with fewer rutted roads that you can cut a path though. Plains was the first map I played and I loved how you could cut across the land and just make your own way, especially since many of the "roads" were a nightmare to transverse. I understand that weather will be added in sometime along with different types of maps like a snow area which should spice things up.
For those interested here are a few shots of me goofing off in game.

This game just amazes me with it's attention to detail. I love screwing around the crane attachment, last night I used it to throw rocks into a lake. :) It's the little things that get me.

I've gotten use to using the gear box and like the ability to control the amount of power you use as well, as it does help prevent getting stuck more often than not. There were a few times I would intentionally run my trucks super low on fuel just to have to take another one out there with fuel. :) Coast is pretty easy, and fuel wasn't a major issue on it so I spiced things up a little. I used the B-130 to do the farthest of the objectives on it. Unfortunately by the time I had tried to do that, the roads were in terrible shape and I would capsize it more than a few times. At the time I wasn't aware of how the crane system worked in regards to loading up a truck. So I'd make the trek all the way back to the logging camp. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to load the trucks and watched a guide on it. I'm an idiot. :o The game tells you what you need to complete the load. Brain wouldn't put 1+1 together. :bhead :lol Still having fun. :x
So with multiplayer, I can assume that when your friend does a load, you see the objective update? As for gaming sessions, I have no issues with long running ones. My usual co-op sessions will run at a minimum of 12 hours. :) I may not do them very often, but when a day off hits, yeah. :aok
