What's the good and bad about the Warthog? I have used CH products for years but lately I have been thinking about checking out the Warthog. I tried their top of the line stuff back when everything was analog but haven't touched it since USB. Is it worth the jump from CH?
Currently my system is: Fighter Stick, pro throttle, pro pedals.

I have the same CH setup and it's worked flawlessly for 9 years. What are you hoping to gain from a Warthog?

I was just wondering if it is worth all the extra bucks. Like you I have used CH for a very long time and have no problems with it, but it there is a better option I would consider it, because lets face it, the last big change that CH made was to switch to USB.

Granted, I don't use the Warthog so I'm not familiar with any advantage, should there be any. Why not spend the $500 on a vid card or CPU? :headscratch:

That's the question I have. Is there any advantage. It's getting time to renew my equipment so I am looking at options. One other piece of hardware I like is the Volair seat setup. My current cockpit is uncomfortable after a long session.

Delirium uses the setup - he might have some good feedback for you.
I've been with CH since the mid 90's, so I can't help. I *thought* that the TM sticks had more resistance than the CH sticks, but that could just be fallacy or bad memory.

CH springs are lighter than the Warthog. The two complaints I have about the Warthog are the ring that wears and spoils the return to center and the weakness of the plastic guts of a metal stick and base. Overall it's a good stick. I would not replace a CH HOTAS I was happy with unless it was worn out.

x55 rhino is great and it costs a lot less.

I switched from a CH setup to the TM Warthog about 3 months ago, my findings:
Accuracy in the TM stick is way more exact. Yet, if you do not have very steady hands you might consider it a drawback. No spikes, moves through the scales in single digits, dual stage trigger ( bit heavy ) and so on. Buttons on the stick are more or less on the same spot, size and feel as the CH. Big drawback is the height of the stick. After 3 months I still do not sit comfortable.
Next thing I will do is cut a hole in my desk and mount the stick below the desk which should lower is about an inch and a half. Hope it works out....
The TM makes a proper workout out of AH. Serious, spring tension is ( felt ) ten times heavier than a CH. You get used to it and it puts in a good argument for the wife ack :D
The throttle is a bit of a pita. Accurate, yes, heavy, yes ( with the tension all the way back to no resistance), buttons just not where you like them. Lots of buttons you cannot use in a fighter, etc. Overall the ergonomics are, well, not available. Twin throttle is nice, you can lock it to make it a single but then the tension kicks back in. Heavy steel switches look great but are utterly useless in fighter mode due to lack of speed in deployment.
Why did I buy it? Well, my CH got a bit old and dodgy after having spend about 5 years ( stick is from 2003 ) in a box in the basement and my throttle ( Saitek X45 throttle ) was dying on me.
I wanted dual throttles and the Saitek X55 wasnt out yet. As you cant buy a throttle seperately you somehow have to.
Love the stick, especially when it will fit my height requirements. If it would be possible to buy throttle seperately, I would buy the Saitek X55 I think.

I manufactured a simple frame and bought a Jaguar drivers seat from Ebay for a few pounds, the frame includes mounts for centre stick and left hand throttle, with rudder pedals and the keyboard and mouse mounting in easy reach on the right hand side.
The seat rails simply screwed in to the wooden base unit I made, it's connected to a 12v supply and all the functions are working, including the electric headrest.
All told it cost next to nothing in comparison with commercial versions, and is comfortable enough to sleep in!
The commercial seat such as the Volair are basically using the same principle at a vastly exaggerated cost :old:

I just got my Saitek X55Rhino and rudder pedals, I would give it up for anything!!!! It's the best move I made for flight sims!!!!! :salute :old: :airplane:

How exactly are you supposed to pull those Warthog throttles back without hitting a bunch of buttons at once?

The throttle has a grip for your fingers, with no buttons on it.

I traded my old chfightercrapstick and x-52 throttle. I sent it in the x-55 box. I think somebody is gonna be disappointed when they open it :).

Dont put your whole arm on it. Just rest your hand on top of throttle.
