Title: Cockpit View
Post by: knight51 on June 19, 2014, 11:53:03 PM
Hey guys, for some reason I can't see the numbers on the gauges even when I'm zoomed in.
I used the arrow keys to zoom in btw. I've attached a screen shot.

You're not zoomed in, you just moved your head forward with the up arrow key.
Use Z to zoom and bracket keys [ ] to adjust zoom.

You are using an extreme field of view. I would reduce it, I use 120.
The auto setting is 106 if you have a 16:9 aspect monitor.

What resolution are you running your textures at?

Good lord... Is this what happens when the little AH Pilot is on shrooms?

Yes, definitely recommend to adjust field of view under video settings (from the splash screen menu) as FLS suggests.

Also, zoom and head movement are totally different.

What I do in most cases (only small monitor and even worse eyesight) use the mouse movement to look around the cockpit.  That allows me to zoom in on specific gauges as needed.  That is under flight preferences / options (pm me if you have trouble) mouse look.

login menu, video settings, set the field of view. Looks like youre around 150 degrees now  :) Mine is set to 115 on a 22 inch 16:9 monitor.

I set the forward position on my hat switch to look straight ahead (in "Map controllers", on your clipboard).  You will have to map this for every plane you fly but while pressing forward on the hat switch, push your page down key on the keyboard, so that the gauges can now be seen clearly.  Then while still holding the hat switch, press the F10 key.  That will lock that view to coincide with your forward hat switch key.  Depending on the plane, you may need to fine tune the view using the four keyboard arrows, to get it exactly the way you want.  F10 key saves whatever view is showing.

Now if you want to see your gauges, one hat switch press will show them.  Release and you're back to normal view.

Looks more like an FOV problem. manually set it 100 and go from there.

Thanks for the advice guys, I set my FOV to 120 and now everything looks perfect. I always thought that FOV was a setting for how far you could see hahah.
Also on a side note, how do you subscribe to threads so i can get email notifications for when someone replies.

I found this in the profile settings:

To request notifications from a specific board, click the "notify" button in the index of that board.

It's in the upper right corner.
