a friend of mine once told me a story about how they tested the ejection system using circus bears. I don't know if it was true but it was funny as #*%& to hear

Guess I am fortunate then, I had an apartment on the Brisbane River for one of the last shows of the "dump and burn", awesome sight to see it fly up the river towards us and over the apartment with all that flame.

You guys know how to party no doubt. I can't believe I missed that moment at the closing ceremonies, just beyond cool.

I saw a few good dump and burns at Gold Coast Indy.

Spectacular jet even without 'dump and burn'. I remember being at an airshow in Ireland when three USAFE F111s did a low flypast in formation on typical Irish misty summer day. The clouds of vapour those jets produced had to be seen to be believed. Much better than the boring old F15s!
But one question. Why didn't the USAF ever do a dump and burn? Was there a technical reason or were they just boring?

I never saw one do it at Upper Heyford, I saw one do it once up in Scotland at RAF Lossiemouth.
My guess would be somebody would find some reason to complain about it.
If an Aussie does it.. It is friggin cool.
If an American does it.. It demonstrates America's arrogance causes global warming and is harmful to women and children world wide. ;)

Probably a Policy of not wanting to waste fuel. I doubt if its dangerous RAAF would be doing it. Also many 111's in USAF were forward deployed and the locals in NATO were always kinda antsy about stunts when flown by Americans. Most of all after a Few USMC bone heads flew into an I-talian ski lift cables and a bunch of skiers went thru the moon door.
My guess is $$. One guy does it and everyone wants to do it. As well the F-111 never had the special status in USAF that it had with the RAAF.
