yep it took that long.
Details aside I lost a lousy but well paying job three years ago. I've worked some menial jobs since then. Bought into BS out of desperation. Done things I never thought I'd have to. During that time I've become humbled and learned more about myself than I ever wanted to. I also met the love of my life. If I can make it to September without losing my place or having something come up I should be okay.
A bit of advice from what I've learned. If you hate your job be looking before you make a mistake and bail. It's HARD out there regardless of your qualifications.

Another bit of advice; Depending on your field, you may end up being over-qualified when trying to find a job after you've quit. For this, make SURE you have another job ALREADY lined up before bailing from your current one.

may fortunate winds blow your way, soon.

I recently decided to jump back into the employed field... was a stay at home dad because it just made economical sense to be the one who took over the domestic tasks. My wife is gainfully employed and up until now, it would have cost more to pay someone else to watch the kids- run them all over the place in the mini van - (yes the poor kids heard a lot of the -Back in my day we had bicycles for this - statements :) )
Anywayz.. I have been looking for part time work to supplement the cost of the private high school tuition that is rapidly approaching..I obtained a real estate appraisers trainee license and need to do this part time too until I have reached the requisite trainee hours - .. So far the most interesting statement i have received when I have asked why I was not going to be interviewed in a second round ...was...
(I am 58 by the way) We feel that you most likely would be a good addition to our enterprise, but..... we feel that you would most likely intimidate your immediate supervisor, and that would not be a productive process in the long run. Why do you think that? Well..... you probably are much more intelligent than him and that would intimidate him and we would not want to lose him to anyone else...
My reaction... so your companies goal is to keep less intelligent people? ...... This is the state of our economy... The girl was in her 20's probably with a graduate degree in HR.... this is the state of our educational system......
Good luck on the job hunt - it sux out there...
