Why not..
and Why is the B-26 also not able to select attack? It has forward firing fixed guns.
:salute
-
I'm too busy drooling over the thought of having three forward-firing 75mm in a formation to explain why having three forward-firing 75mm in a formation is a very BAD idea.
-
Oh god.... I will feel bad for CVs if this is added, who needs ords when you have 3 forward firing 75s? :devil
-
If we had the B25J it could be used on formation. Who needs a stinky tank gun when you can carry ROCKETS :x

B-25H was also able to carry rockets.

B-25H does not have a bomb sight. That is the consistent thing between which bombers have formations and which do not, barring the CV enabled B5N and TBM.

Does anybody else find these requests for computer generated friends to fly formation with you in a multiplayer game ironic?

3 friends times 3 formations equals 10 plane mission :D

Yes, just about as ironic as AI field guns and CV flack.

Never understood why the B-25H does not have formations if the B-26 and Tu-2 do. It's too slow to be flown like a fighter ala the Mosquito or the A-20G. Give it formations...the strafer B-25C can have them.
-
Yes, just about as ironic as AI field guns and CV flack.
The word you're looking for is "coincidental," not ironic. Floob's use of the word, however, was correct.

There's that adorable grammar deficiency of yours.
Changing my sentence to "coincidental" makes no sense because he didn't say coincidental. I used the precise word I needed and it makes perfect sense with average or better comprehension.
My comment "...as ironic as AI field guns and CV flack" was a statement on the LACK of irony.
There is no irony in people asking for AI guns on bombers or some other AI functions in game and equally no irony in having AI field guns or flak guns on ships because they are a necessity.
The only irony is people having problems with AI in game when it already exists in game.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to try to attack and commit borderline fallacious attacks. That said, it's actually quite humorous, because...
Irony (noun) - defined:
- the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.
- a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
In your attempt to insult me by claiming a deficiency, you actually managed to berate yourself by showing an ignorance of the actual definition of the word. Ironically, your reply was a perfect example of irony in action.
Irony was not the correct word for you to use, because having ack or AA gunners in a game doesn't contradict the point of a multiplayer game. Does it go against the theme of a pure air combat game? It could; however, you claimed it was ironic because it was a multiplayer game (as the subject was concerning multiplayer games), which actually makes your statement arbitrary and relatively illogical. It can't possibly be ironic because allowing more player outlets actually opens the realm of multiplayer gameplay. It could potentially be ironic in other ways, but not in the way you stated it was.
FLOOB's statement meets the very definition of irony, because it showcases the requesting of more non-player controlled game objects (typically referred to as NPC's) because of a perception that there aren't enough players to fill entire bomber formations with regularity in a game whose major selling point is multiplayer gameplay. That is irony.
Asking for more AI ground guns, however, is simply coincidental. It doesn't matter what kind of game this is, the fact that they exist is nothing more than coincidence in relation to this game being multiplayer. This could be a single-player game and the inclusion of AI guns would still be irrelevant to the topic. Overall player numbers? Gameplay enjoyment? AI guns could be ironic in regards to those and other aspects, but it has no bearing on the game being a multiplayer platform.
coincidence (noun) - defined:
- a concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.
There is no connection between the game being multiplayer and your implied connection to AI guns/ack/AA, therefore they are coincidental.
Now, perhaps you initially meant to use the wrong word ("ironic") on purpose, but the fact that you then came back and then defended your use of it (incorrectly), and then accused me of having a lack of comprehension shows not only the opposite, but also that you truly failed to grasp the definition of the word by unintentionally demonstrating an example of it yourself in your attempt to prove me wrong.

We Unironicly need the B25J.....
-1 to formation B25Hs. It was used for close ground support/Anti shipping, If it was given a formation you'd see guys ridding the formation to target, and than dumping the drones.
I fly B25s in the MA often, and taking the strafer option B25C in a formation is extremely unwieldy and pretty useless. That is unless you plan on ditching your drones after dropping your payload, which seems to be frowned upon.
Hell, the B26 has fairly useful strafing capability 4 or 5 Browning M2 50cals, but you don't ever seem them doing anything thing other than level bombing.
Although that probably has a lot to do with the fact that it climbs about as well as a PT boat.
-
Actually they did attack with their 75mm's in formation.

Man you are one sensitive dude. Having said that, please continue to post IOT show us just how educated you are! It's important.

Being sensitive would require me to exhibit behavior primarily based on emotions. I simply posted correct grammar usage based on established mechanics and logic, nothing more. For comparison, an example of sensitivity would be a player spamming PM's at another player numerous times over several days after they were shot down. ;)

So were p-38s :D
Actually they did attack with their 75mm's in formation.
I'm sure they did, but the current drone formation system is way to clumsy to be effective in that role. If the drones were able to be manipulated more effectively than I would not be against this idea, but I still think a formation will just be used as bomb trucks/defensive insurance until they have to use there strafing capabilities, which at that point the drones would be ditched.

AMMO,
Don't poke sticks at superior life forms. They just get all superior and hissy on your "6" like a bromance.

Can we please quit with the thread derail? As much as I'd love to see another 18 page "Stick" waving contest, I'd rather not see it in the B25H formations thread.

Geez ya we wouldn't want to see guys doing that with buff formations. :huh
