I was curious about the policy on this. Same group but different squadron. Allowed in game or no?
-
Off course, check out the 56FG. Now off record, it would be selfish to offer 10 similar looking planes aka only a number change or so as you are taking spots out of the 32 slots allowed.

Do you want Vraciu's plane skinned ?

One of his already is.
I put in a 31st FG plane already but a member asked for another to be skinned. They are quite a bit different despite being the same group.

There's no rule about a skinner skinning multiple examples of a type of aircraft from the same group or even squadron. I actually skinned the exact same aircraft twice (Rudel's Stuka, summer and winter). However given how few slots are left for the P-51D it couldn't hurt to PM HTC to see if they have any objection before starting the skin.

Which one is Vraciu's please ?

The VF-6 Hellcat.

Thanks :salute

The VF-6 Hellcat.
He was also in VF-16. He is the highest scoring pilot for both squadrons.
He has two famous schemes, the #19 in game now and the #32 from "The Marianas Turkey Shoot" which is not in the game.
The #32 scheme would be a great addition, Zoney.

We really do not want to accept skins which only have a number change on them. We would like all the skins to be different. We also are aware, within the same squadron, there might be very different skins.

Thanks, Skuzzy. I think the two I propose are different enough that you will be okay with them. They are definitely not just number changes. *fingers crossed*

There are at least a few differences. Wing stripes, nose stripes, and checker patterns/locations. Hopefully that's sufficient. (Still more to do. May not get it in for the next release.)

That is walking a really thin line.

I was once madly in love with a girl named Molly so I had to try. I throw myself upon the mercy of the court! :cry

To be fair, I'd argue that if those two are too similar then the same case could be made for most every USN/MC F4U-1A since there's not a tremendous amount of difference between the tricolor aircraft aside from how they're weathered (which is why I prefer skinning ones that make the Millennium Falcon look like it's fresh off the showroom floor).

Here is what is going to happen. Those skins who closely resemble each other could end up being removed from the game, if the slots get full for skins.
So, we encourage skinners to try and not make skins which closely resemble each other in an effort to get as much variety as possible in the limited slots we have available.

Gotcha.

Also, do you plan to remove similar skins by date? Last in first out?
I don't mind knowing one may be removed if push came to shove just so long as it isn't the wrong one. Definitely want my original safe from "duplicate deletion" so to speak.
