I thought their criteria were fairly restrictive for MA maps, no desert, no winter?

With the new terrains system who knows. We did have a desert before so it is possible. I think the biggest issue is creating the objects in a whiter mode or a desert brush set. In the old days file size and download time were a big deal. HTC is a master at building their game and keeping the file sizes down.

These days file size and download speed negate that issue pretty much. Adding another 100 meg in art work for desert and winter setups shouldn't be that big a deal. Maybe it's time to loosen the restrictions a bit.

we've got winter skins for some of the GVs right now. Why can't we have winter snow covered maps? And if not, what the heck was the point of making winter skins in the first place? Somebody have far too much time on their hands?

Skins are generally made because people want them for one reason or another, perhaps to feel pretty or for scenarios, not so much for practical value in the MA.

There are plenty of winter maps, but they are too small for MA use (too few bases).

I would imagine that if a terrain was created that sported partial desert or partial snow areas that it would be acceptable.

It's all about the tiles. at this time the only snow or desert tiles are the custom ones used in the AvA and scenario maps that are made that are NOT up to MA map standards. I think HTC should take a look at Rangers tiles and check them to see if that meet HTC standards (which I should think they do) and have a paper drawn up to take them "officially" off Rangers hands and then use them in the game.

Because any player can simply turn off displaying skins for other players, there is not much point in making skins for camouflage purposes in the first places.

Yes and a night fighting for a couple hours a week.

As people simply used to log off in massive numbers in the past whenever night time came up, you should not expect to see your wish granted ;)

I have made the offer. :)

I have literally hundreds of HD textures for that cover pretty much anywhere in the world.  I would gladly donate any or all to the game.

That pic is straight out of one of my AvA terrains.

Here's the rules for what you can/cannot change in an MA terrain:

1)Editing terrain textures
Yes

2)Rearranging the object layout of the default terrain clutter tiles
Yes

3)Replacing terrain objects (like trees or forrests) with custom objects on the clutter tiles
No

4)Editing default object textures
Depends.  One of the goals of a MA terrain is to keep the size reasonably small.  Changing a lot of textures have the greatest imapct on terrain file size.

5)Rearranging the object layout of the bases or strats
No

6)Replacing base or strat objects with custom objects
No

7)Adding new objects (like bridges)
No

So, according to Rule #1, yes, a winter or desert terrain is allowed. :aok

How many of those rules did Fester work with to create his well blended new map?

I copy & pasted Skuzzy's rules for an MA terrain.  I did notice that a few of these rules were broken on the new Fester terrain, so I don't know what to say there.  Where's Skuzzy?
