Damn sad.

Lots of funny memories from this great comedy and also dramatic actor

:headscratch: just don't understand how somebody could be that depressed about life.

If it happens to someone you love, not only is it a head scratcher but it is a painful head scratcher.

Some of our most talented entertainers throughout history have lost their battles in life with that particularly nasty demon you just mentioned.

Belushi
Morrison
Presley
Houston
Jackson
Cobain
Joplin
Hendrix
Ledger
Hoffman ..... and now Williams ....and the list will  most certainly go on.

.   True he battled alcohol also. Many great comics seem to struggle with depression. RIP Robin Williams. However though your pain is over your families is not.

Everything dies, but nothing is lost so long as we are alive to remember and love them always. Each and every single one of you who saw and heard this man, and it made you smile and laugh. He changed you, and now after all that laughter, now it comes our time to smile, with a tear in the eye and remember him always.

RIP robin.

Sigh, just heard about it.  He will be missed, from his comedy on set to his personality on stage.

Definitely one of my most favorite movies, Dead Poet Society.

As manic as the guy was in public I always wondered if there was depressive behind the scene.

We was funny behind the scenes as well.

A company in my home town Calgary called Voodoo PC's used to build a pretty high end and well known set of gaming systems back in the late 90's to early 2000s.  They were bought by HP I think, and Rahul, the owner who I knew from a Calgary based gaming website I worked for, wrote on his facebook today about how Robin Williams was a celebrity endorser for VOodoo PC.  Voodoo used to have large back page color adds in all the major magazines like PC Gamer and PCXL back in the day.  Williams even wrote some reviews and did interviews about gaming and Voodoo Computers where he did business for years, getting new systems for himself and his kids constantly.

Anyhow, Rahul, who now is running Razer gaming components and working for Microsoft gaming, said today that in his old shop in Calgary whenever Williams called that there were fights over who would answer the call, as he constantly joked with the techs and sales people.  Rahul said today that he often had a sore stomach after long calls with Williams.

Another guy I know delivered furniture in San Fran to one of Williams home once.  I'll post the quote from his FB page -

I'm sadden to hear about Robin Williams death. I remember when I used to work for a crating company I was asked to deliver some furniture to a house in Noe Valley in San Francisco. When I delivered the furniture I was asked to wait in the dining room. In the dining room the chairs consisted of Jokers, Queens & Kings as the back rest for the chairs. I told my boss whoever lives here must be a joker! Down came Robin Williams and he said to me well yes I am. We chatted and he made us both laugh. He also said you want one more good laugh... He said your not getting a tip! Lol. He tipped us both $50.00. What a nice guy he was. RIP Robin Williams the comedy club on Clement Street where you got your start will always remember you.

Robin Williams was a huge online gamer back in those days - Here is a quote from an article from a celeb magazine talking to him about his recent writing in PC Gamer.  He was really into the Second World War and games about it.  I don't want to say anything here due to confidentiality and rules and such, but rumor has it that he liked online flying games back then as well, and bandied about trying several that were around back then.

Quote
The 50-year-old Oscar winner, who won Best Supporting Actor for "Good Will Hunting" confesses, "I play games, I'm not going to lie about it, and when you play online against someone else, it's the best. Especially when you're playing against a 12-year-old kid who's been playing the game for a year and knows all the secrets. I'm fascinated by military games."

His favorite games include First Person Shooter, and Half-Life, and War Craft 3.

"There are a million games and there are mods with these games," Williams says, getting into the lingo. "The mods are taking these games and basically redesigning it and doing it on their own thing. There's a game called Half-Life and these guys made up a total different take on it using the engine to make a World War II engine called Day of Defeat with Germans and Americans doing kind of like a Normandy beach type thing. But these guys made it on their own and the company basically kind of gave them their blessing."

"It's amazing. It's a world. It has it's own mythology, plus clans and groups," Williams says.

a few years back, I tried the same thing many times, but failed.  but I am glad.  otherwise I wouldnt have had my daughter and my granddaughter in my house this weekend.  it was lots of fun making breakfast and lunch, going to the mall watching my granddaughter play in the water fountain while I sat there with my foot swollen due to torn ligaments.  when she was done, i picked her up, put her on my shoulders and walked back to my truck limping along the way.

even though I dont consider myself even 1/2 a man, I consider those who want to live with the pain to be better men than those who choose the easy way out like I tried.

i still sometimes wake up screaming and yelling and when I am out in public sometimes I have really bad panic attacks for whatever reason that happened before.

but i'll put up with all the pain and suffering for a while if I can get another day with my kids and grandkid.

sorry you lost your battle robin williams, you made me laugh many years when i was down.  wish you had stuck around a bit longer.  will miss you.  but not as much as your family will.

:headscratch: just don't understand how somebody could be that depressed about life.

He likely had bipolar disorder so his manic creativity and humour would be contrasted by periods of despair and hopelessness. Comedians, actors and musicians have disproportionate percentages of such disorders. Drugs and drink are often a symptom of this not the core problem.

Poor guy and his poor family. He brought a lot of happiness to people.

 :salute Mr. Williams. Shazbot.

Sad news. I was sort of a fan since Mork&Mindy.

Tears of a clown, hidden behind the happy mask.

Yepp, I know a couple who'd fall into this category.

I knew that one day he will die from caffeine overdose. The man was clearly an addict - he was racing like no other.

Too bad. Unique talent.

The man had a talent for humor and acting that was one of the greats. Unfortunately he had a pain of living that was just as great. I mourn his passing but hope he has at last found the peace he was searching for. He gave so much, he deserves some consideration in return. Rest well.  :pray
Thank you so much for your entertaining the troop overseas.  :salute

Funny thing about him,

No matter when i watched him, the man never failed to put a tear in my eye....From laughing so hard i had tears running down my face.....to watching him in his dramatic roles, and getting a tear in my eye.

To last night seeing the news, once again, he didnt fail to put a tear in my eye

RIP

Very sad news. I've not felt bad about too many actors dying in recent years but this one hit home.

Slashed his wrists and hung himself with a belt.

Now there are statements about Parkinson disease... imagining how that would have affected his mental health. I am sure he thought one more challenge in life is all I need... I can see how he would have a hard time letting people see himself go through that struggle publicly.

He obviously suffered a lot in his own thought processes. I hope that peace has found his soul.

Please watch all 4 parts, it might put much into perspective when it comes to robin, everything to his childhood to his parents, and why he did the things he did. Please watch it, we really did loose a good man.  :(
