Title: BBC: Browsing speeds may slow as net hardware bug bites
Post by: SysError on August 14, 2014, 03:04:33 PM
We have had a couple of guys experience bad lag issues this past week or so.  I wonder if this is the cause.

"Data traffic jams are being forecast as some older networking hardware is caught out by the growth of the net"

I wonder if trace route would pick this up?

Of course it will.

Unplug your modem or router and see if trace route picks it up.

I think it will.

As hardware upgrades are made, there will be outtages. The computers using the routes will find the shortest path around the outtage until it comes back online.

Also, if you have an older computer (like mine) all these new websites with HD video that is forced on to the main home page just leaves me no choice but to look elsewhere.

Happens everywhere, every day.
