Title: Field gun range analog on th 88?

I set an analog slider to elevator trim in mode 1 and to sight-range in mode 2 this afternoon.  That works.  I have elevator trim and tank analog range control on those that have it.  What surprised me was the mode 2 sight-range analog setting did not apply to the field 88 range set.  I can set mode 1 to sight-range and then it works on the field 88s.

Am I wrong in thinking the field-guns should be auto set to mode 2 ?

Mode 1 is planes and default. Mode 2 is vehicles and boats. The 88 is not a vehicle, boat, or plane, so that leaves default.

Randy,


  You could setup mode 3 and change the trim to the range in mode 3 and I think you'd be good to go!

  You will need to map a button to change modes and to make it simple select mode 3 and copy mode 1 then just change the trim to range and you should be able to do all you would like.

Morf instead of setting mode 3 he could just toggle mode 2. Save mode 3 for something else.

Morf is right.  A mode 3 is the only way I can see to have the cake and eat it too.

I wonder why AH doesn't default the field guns to mode 2 which is a closer match to GVs than planes.  My best guess is they know a newbie would not setup a mode 2 in the learning stage.

Why not just switch to mode 2 manually for the 88?

Whilst we are on the subject, how is the 88 range adjusted?  When I select the gun, a range of 5.0 shows but, I've yet to figure out how to adjust it.  One curious mind wants to know.   :salute

Default keys are C and V.
