Yes....better to have it on top of the vehicle like the 251 did and the M3 w/ 75mm in game does.

Total awesome sauce.

Towed antitank guns of anti type (Except PaK-37) would be great and we already have a prime mover for one. If we get a towed 88 it needs to have the full Table of Organization & Equipment (TOE) to include the correct ground target sight that was issued to all 88mm AA guns. It should also traverse at a much higher rate than the fixed 88s we have now on the fields now.  :aok

towed 88's have been wished for before---and have yet to granted.

The way we play this game I'm torn on the idea.

Say POTW decides to as a squad, setup an 88 battery of 12-20 88 to defend against bombers. Yes that will be epic. The bomber pilot could decide we were worthy of his load. Or even against GV spread out along a ridge over a spawn. One M16, M8, M3-75 etc... would end that. Or just one tank spawned in with HE. Or a fighter with guns only. Maybe even a pilot with a 45.

Just like the 88 is a sitting duck on fields against fighters and tanks with better optics. This would be a scooby snack delivery service for the red guys. Obviously like anything a bit arcane in our game. A small handful of players would become competent in setting these up to survive a bit longer than everyone else. Might even be some strange moments of hiding one in a hanger for after the capture. If the town capture stays the same with the new game version. There is a high area in town designed for a battery of these to sweep the GV approaches. Until the long range GV get at them with HE or the first fighter bombs or strafes them.

Still, if this happens, do the same with the 17lb. It has better optics for ambushing tanks.

gv's

It would be listed as a gun ship or field object, so technically wish granted on your end. :)

It would be towed by a gv though, so does this make it a hybrid?  :P

It would be nice to have a US version.

As terrifying as the 88mm was to US troops, the 90mm struck the same fear in German soldiers and was also an effective AT gun in addition to providing close direct fire support and long range indirect fire support.

ack-ack

Until the jabo or bombers showed up, your only limitation to the permutations of 88 fun would be getting numbers of players herded into place and setup. Like that first AP volley from 10 - 88 setup on the high ground in the town as a single GV wonders into view from the spawn. Even the first few jabo or bombers might not make it onto the target if those guys know what they are doing. That's why you would try to recruit a few wirbel. In the end you would probably need a few tanks to defend against M3-75 and M8 who could move faster than the 88 could track. Now a crafty M4 with rockets could stand off and hit some by luck........ Or a squad ups their own 88 and starts a long range lobbing fight from the spawn to the town.

And then some newb would show up and carpet bomb all the fun to heck and crow on 200.

I think that it would be a good addition, it would be no different than rolling out a tank or jeep/m3 now. Planes can still kill me no different than low bombers or tanks.  I think it would still give a different aspect to the game and something that would be cool (especially if the portable 88 tank gunsight would be transferred to the gun/ship/field 88 too).

The SDK has got to be the least used thing in the hangar.  Give it it a purpose. +1 (towed or mounted)
