…because I was 200 miles offshore crossing the Gulf of Alaska! :devil

Had some lumpy seas to start and finished with an exhilarating night sail in 20knots of wind and 6-8 foots seas, in the middle was warm and sunny with star and northern lights filled night skies.
Here's a link to pics and video. (http://www.dalefalk.com/Boats/Seward-to-Sitka/43839945_cMLdnP#!i=3482277678&k=LqknXZX)

Not my boat, I crewed for a friend that enroute to Mexico and wanted extra hands for the gulf crossing. Other than the awesome night sky filled with stars and northern lights the only odd thing we saw was a Fin whale that appeared to chase us. We crossed just in front of him on a perpendicular course. We were all watching to get a glimpse of the whale only to see him next come to the surface charging right up our wake, it looked like a scene from Moby Dick! :) It was about 150' behind us the first time then again about 75' astern, a really awesome visual since we could see the whales "bow" in the wave before it broke the surface. I fudged the camera (put it on standby instead of record!!!) or I would have video. We figured his next surface would be under or alongside of us so we made a hard turn away…….never saw him again. Fins are big whales, they get up to 90'….this one was certainly 60' or larger. Always a thrill to see a whale.
Since I'm not USCG licensed I can't charge you…..if you show up on the dock in Seward when I'm getting ready to go day sailing you could probably go along. :)
