Title: We all knew this day would come.
Post by: FLOOB on August 25, 2014, 07:44:07 PM
It finally happened. The first Ice Bucket Challenge fatality.

I'm not insensitive, but when I read that headline it made me laugh.

I don't think it was the ice bucket challenge as it might be the jump from the quarry ledge.

This one is a Darwin award.

So....today I'm working in an office where the tech support geek is the best friend of a cousin of this lad mentioned in the story above.  Apparently they had another cousin who died last year from spraying waaaaay too much deodorant in an enclosed space, choking on the fumes and passing out.  Or so I'm told, not absolutely sure I believe that you can die from breathing a can of Lynx but it sure sounds like the family has Darwin awards in it's history.

Gotta agree with this.

More related IMO from the other day... (http://www.ctvnews.ca/world/firefighters-shocked-in-ice-bucket-challenge-gone-wrong-1.1971037)

I just can't help but be angry at the stupidity, of all people who would know enough to stay clear of the power lines in a bucket lift you'd think firefighters would be at the tip top of the list, right behind power company linesmen.

Paramedics have a term "fireman proof".

Looks like they set up the truck between a distribution primary line and a transmission line.......the pictures suggest they were in an electrically confined space using a metal ladder.

That truly is a Darwin Award moment.

I hate they were burned, their suffering is unspeakable.

But the sheer stupidity is phenomenal.

Paramedics have a term "fireman proof".

Is it similar to "infantry proof"?

This horrifies me, and then on some level I realize I shouldn't be surprised...
