You get more rockets with the M4, which we already have.

I think it would be something decent to add, while not necessary, even for variety.

Katyusha is a psychological area denial weapon. It totally sucks at destroying anything intended.

We get more bombs with a B-29, so why fly anything else....

Well the katyusha fired a couple different rockets so it may have more fire power than the M4 rocket pack

+1, if we get "land mode" gunnery for it. Cain't hit diddly with the M4 rockets m'self.

according to Wikipedia there are a ton of varients of the katyusha. Two look like pretty good candidates. The BM-13 which was a ZIS-3 truck modified to carry up to 24 RS-132 Rocket rails, and the BM-13-16 using a lend lease truck platform and carrying 16 rails using the same rockets.
RS-132 rockets appear to have a 10.8lb HE warhead. I believe these are the same rockets available for the IL2.  The M8 rocket used in the M4 Calliope and on various US aircraft has a 4.3lb warhead.
Additionally it looks like these vehicles did not carry reloads themselves but were supplied from support vehicles.

If added to the game they could be reloaded from M3's or sdkfz 251's, and perhaps given a crude method to to aim such as "land mode" similar to what we have for ship guns.

Nah.

Go play with the M4 Calliope and you'll get the feeling for what the rockets can do.  On second thought.... actually the M4 Calliope can do a LOT more than the Katyusha. The M4 will shrug off town ack, MG fire and most aircraft gun fire, still able to help level a town with its main gun, and even destroy enemy gv's.  The Soviet truck that carries the katyusha would be nothing more than a tin can.

Oh... and I dare say to go learn how to effectively use the SdKfz 251.  You can heave 18 of the 28cm rockets, which are far greater damage than the ketyusha can offer, and still have MG's to defend yourself with.

I can never aim the Calliope worth a damn - just leave holes in fields close to town.

Nobody knows how to use the sadikifiz rockets at high angle! If somebody figures it out let us know.

some variants of the jeep could use rocket launchers.

Maybe not as effective as the M4, but should be twice as fast.  On maps with long drives it would be fun to get there and blow up something quickly.

The request would be better formed as a Studebaker truck and trailer in all it variants.

For truck read

Katyusha
Supply truck
Troop truck
Troop and supply truck

For trailer read

Katyusha
Supply trailer
Artillery piece
AA piece

Even better if such trucks were available in convoy.

Isn't the Katyusha a bit longer ranged than the M4's Calliope? :headscratch:

OH YEA! We have more than one bomber, more than one fighter, why not more than two rocket firing vehicles? It does add variety. :aok

Sourced from Wikipedia it looks like the M8 Rocket has a range of 4.2km and the RS-132 7.1km. I am assuming these are ranges given for surface launched.  With no current aiming methods other than dead reckoning it hardly matters though.

Yeah.  Would be sweet if the "land mode" option was available for gv's.

Exactly.

If peeps cant hit the broad side of a town with the M8 rockets than how can the RS132's be any more effective?
