I saw a great story on ESPN this afternoon. Story about a young man doing the right thing (as most of us fathers try to do.)
As opposed to the stories we have read and viewed on television about child abuse etc.
Devon Stills was trying out for the Bengals (a lineman). During the end of camp he was called into the coach's' office and was
informed that he did not make the team. During this time his beautiful young daughter was found to have a tumor in her stomach.
The Bengals knowing that now he would have no benefits to cover his daughters' illness told him he probably would clear waivers
and that if he did they would claim him and put him on the practice squad restoring his families benefits. He would not have to
travel with the team being a member of the practice squad. What a fantastic organization eh? Lovey Smith a great and caring football coach.
Also, Devon Stills football jerseys would be made for sale to help with medical expenses. The New Orleans Saints upon hearing
this purchased 500. So now.....being a diehard Browns fan my entire life I have also become a Bengals and Saints fan for their humanity.
His Jersey can be purchased if interested at the Bengals Fan shop online. Make sure that it is in the Bengals Team Shop that is not
included at NFL.com. This Team Shop is separate. Money is short for a lot of us. It is a special event item and will not be shipped until
Oct. 9th. Before ordering, if you do so, make sure the special event statement is there. I believe also if you go to the NFL.com site
the number 75 Stills jersey is not available.
Great story, great young father and beautiful little girl. Being a father, this hit home.

I saw it too. Have to be honest I'll be pulling for the Bengals this year now. That was a class move. He has also been moved to the 53 man roster according to the story but they are making accommodations for him.

Very cool of the Bengals. But be aware Still is not getting the money from the jerseys (other than his normal cut I presume?). Still a worthy cause.
All proceeds will go to benefit Cincinnati Children's Hospital and pediatric cancer care and research.
