Battle off Samar 25 October 1944
The GM FM2 "Wildcat" played an important role in the 25 October 1944 Battle off Samar, in which a force of the slow CVEs and their escorts out-fought a vastly superior Japanese surface fleet.
In history, the Japanese force consisted mainly of battleships and cruisers.
We are adding IJN carriers to enable the fun matchup between the FM2 and the A6M5 Zero
Terrain: avasea
IJN-Knights
A6M5
D3A1
B5N
USN-Bishops
FM2
SBD
TBM
Objective: destroy the enemy fleet and aircraft.
American 1000 and 2000 lb bombs are disabled to better match the Japanese ordinance. TBM rockets will also be disabled.

I love this matchup. If I can get my controls all hooked up again I may have to get in on this one.

Menacing Ferrets will be in there tonight (Monday) flying the riceburners.

The Avengers will be there this evening, flying the American Iron.

Had a great time this evening, I managed to hit an enemy cv on four separate runs with my trusty FM2, finally lighting it on fire on the last run. I was shot down twice, by ack one time and by an A6m the second time. I managed to land four kills for the evening, all of them A6M's that put up a good fight, with the help of my wing man Raptor. I ran upon Pennsy on the deck in a torpedo plane, but I was RTB, missing a rudder and some other assorted parts, so was only able to damage him. He in turn, shot out my engine oil and followed me towards our cv; again, my wing man Raptor saved the day by taking out the torpedo plane before it reached our cv. Another great set up guys, thanks.......
