Title: US flight deck operations
Post by: Nefarious on October 06, 2014, 12:58:53 PM
Looking for links or suggested reading on carrier flight deck operations during World War 2 and later.  Things like standard operating procedures for storing/stowing, fueling,  arming, recovering and launching and emergency operations as well. Im sure all carriers were different but i was curious if there was protocol or SOPS for keeping with the flow of things on a world war 2 flight deck.

Nef -

I did a quick google with these search terms "aircraft carrier launch and recovery cycle + description".  I got some interesting hits.  If nothing else this might be a good starting point.

Hope it helps -

I can't help you much with details, but it was always interesting to be out there during OPs. Scary fun   :D

This one is great - very informative and gives very good picture of what is happening on the flight deck.

Also I'll add this one "After the cut" : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMy4rbF1UdA

It is a cartoon but it is used for training and very cool.
