Any aircraft ought not be able to fire fixed guns from F3 mode. Some may disagree, but that's why there is a DA areana
-
not many bombers have fixed guns. What was happening to cause you to wish for this?
-
I fail to see the logic of a20's, TU2's, B25's and B26's being able act as a fighter in f3 mode. Note, I am not talking about bombing, just strafing and acting like a fighter
-
Reasonable wish. I'd add that they also can't drop bombs from f3.

That's the more serious problem and has been wished for at least 100 time before.
The F3 for bombers with fixed guns is a "problem" because it allows unobstructed view during maneuvering, not so much for the shooting itself. Bomber pilots have terrible rear sector views, sometimes even side views. In a dog fight gunners dont help much, so in that case F3 is not justified. Since you cannot disable F3 just for a dog fight, disabling all firing of guns/bombs is the best answer.

Why is F3 available in DA anyway?

It's a training arena.

You assume that bomber pilots fight in F3 mode. We don't. Not me anyhow. I think its much harder to hit what I'm aiming at, especially in a Tu2 with limited ammo, when i don't have a gun sight to use.

F3 mode in A20s, and such give you better SA then you would have flying from the cockpit,....lil gamey yes but fun to dogfight a buff against a fighter.
When im about to take a shot I go back into the cockpit to aim personally.

I am all for eliminating F3 in AH completely.

Just give it to heavy buffs, the 111, the ju88, and jap twin engines and that's it.
-
I like the idea of all guns/Bombay being disabled, while not in F1 Mode.
I think F3 should be allowed for viewing only, to simulate most of the crew being able to see out at the same time.

Did a bomber pilot have to run to the tail gun to check his 6?
-
F3 mode isn't being abused for dogfighting but rather bombing gv.
-
Ok, keep f3 mode with fixed guns disabled, and implement a 5 second delay from the time the pilot jumps from f3 to f1 to fire guns

That would probably work too.
I never use F3 after I spot an enemy con anyways. I jump from gun to gun to keep tabs on him/her.

We'll I don't GV often, but when I don't mind getting egged. The whole reason for this post is the fact I had abused the f3 system in the past and defeated people much better then I. Although I never fire my cannon in f3 mode, I do quickly transition into f1. IMHO I think it is an unfair advantage. Now there are those who will rightly say that I ought to put my money where my mouth is, and you are correct, but I don't like going down quietly into that good night. BTW, why can't you use f3 for bf110's, Il2's, me 410's and Storch's, they have a gunners positions.
