Title: Somebody got some 'splainin' to do
Post by: Scherf on November 04, 2014, 05:50:15 AM
Biggest horse race of the year down here. Favourite finished last, then collapsed and died in the stable.

Because, y'know, favourites are just *always* finishing behind all the no-names, then karking it. All the time.

Horse racing - trust us.

I have to say, those^ were my thoughts exactly.

I'll confess to not knowing much about racing, it's always struck me as being bent however, latest incident just strengthens my prejudices I'm afraid.

Could it be that the poor bugger finished last because it was suffering from a previously undiagnosed heart condition?

Just recently in Finland a horse which had just won its race collapsed and died.

Horses are unfortunately many times trained to a point where their heart just can't take it. Also, people who are involved with the sport will quickly tell you how they love horses...funny how many times that love seems stop the second when the said horse stops being competetive enough. Too many times old race horses are just inconvinience people want to get rid of and fast.
