Title: VMF-212 F4U-4
Post by: Greebo on November 14, 2014, 02:35:45 AM
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding me the info for this skin. The number on the cowling was the last three digits of the airframe code 80874. This was applied using washable paint in the States so the aircraft could be quickly identified while it was ferried across the Pacific to its squadron.

This F4U-4 from VMF-212 was based on Okinawa in June 1945 and flew sorties over the Japanese mainland.
