Just ordered one of these, with a camera gimbal. Will be using my GoPro 3 Black... should be VERY interesting...
Has autonomous mode with waypoints, as well as a "follow me" mode. Going to mess with follow me on my bike this spring, should make for some cool vids...

Nice ride Sol.
At least you didn't buy one of the DJI pieces of S#%^ that are so much the rage right now.
When you are ready to upgrade to something with more flight time, let me know. The technology is moving so fast right now that by the time a website is updated it's outdated. :cry
Keep in mind that the follow me works as long as there are no trees since it doesn't come with any obstacle avoidance hardware.
Feel free to like my Facefart page until I get the website finished. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Northcoast-UAV/1559466147606901?ref=aymt_homepage_panel (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Northcoast-UAV/1559466147606901?ref=aymt_homepage_panel)

Been into RC for over 30 years now... I have a couple other quads as well, a blade 350qx, and a DJI Flamewheel 550..got this one for its waypoint and follow me capability, along with its MUCH higher reliability over DJI's naza system..
As far as follow me, I totally intend to use to to video myself riding my motorcycle, but the plan is to scout the route ahead of time, find a takeoff location, and a landing location, along with the height of any obstalces along the way.. then I will set the drone higher than those obstacles. Thats the only drawback on this thing IMO (aside form 16-22 minute flight times, which isnt bad for a hobby type drone) is lack of collision avoidance. The PIxhawk flight controller is always undergoing revisions, so maybe collision avoidance will come as another module at some point, I almsot expect it will...

I do have a website up and running for a side business doing aerial photo work.. I jsut have it on a bit of a hold right now until all the FAA firestorm is done with... Sure, they have said the FAA doesnt have an official rule yet, and cant do anything, but, true or not, it would still cost a lot of cash to fight them legally if they tried to cite/fine me... Just not worth it IMO...
My URL though, for future reference:

How slow are you "riding" that motorcycle? I didn't think these things were fast enough to keep up with a bike.

That was my first thought too Zoney! I even went to the site to see if any speeds were posted but they are not.
I suppose if the drone is high enough and starts out in front of you the gimbals will allow the cam to follow you even if the drone cant keep up with the bike.

Pssshhh, bet you cant fly a jet under a volleyball net. ;)

Plenty fast enough to keep up on a casual backroads ride.. definitely wont be railing it with the drone behind me.. lol... If I had to estimate, she can get going about 55-60 in "aggressive" mode.. lowers flight times of course, but it can get very maneuverable....
I would LOVE to have one capable of following me on a track day.. but, they just arent at that level.. yet... :devil

lol, forgot you were there for the jet under the net landing that year.. was a very intense flight for sure! totally socked in by trees!
Sure, you are welcome to hang on to it!

Keep in mind also,. it is "following" in a direct path, so if for instance, you go around a curve, it "cuts the corner" so to speak..

Yes I understand, combine that with the ability to maneuver the the cam via the gimbal and it doesnt really have to be as fast as you,you just need to have it placed in the proper position to get the best views.
Pretty soon we;ll see this tech on the racing curcuits, much cheaper than choppers chasing cars or bikes around the track! I see a lot of cams mounted on track lines to follow sports action, imagine having drones watching each car or bike as it goes around the track..... :O Isle of Man race would be something I'd like to see done like that!

The FAA did put out rules but it was overturned by a lower court when the FAA failed to provide a public review period. FAA went back to the drawing board and is now purposing even stricter rules, that included the original "The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to impose strict limits on the use of drones, requiring flights to occur within daylight hours, rise no higher than 400 feet above the ground, and to remain within the sight of the person controlling the drone" Plus for Commercial drone operators would be required to have a license and be trained to fly manned aircraft, even though drones are operated remotely". They also grouped the drones by weight class, 55lbs and below that's everything, for none commercial use will need to demonstrate to an FAA Certified Flight Instructor that they know and understand the rules and have that endorsement in their position when operating the drone.
to operate a commercial drone you will need to have a valid commercial pilots rating.

Kinda overreacting isn't it? It's not like they're one of these:

IDK man, the Condor is pretty sweet in action. I have seen it a few times up close and personal, amazing machine that.

Sorry Brother thought you fell off the face of the earth and figured you would respond in a Drone Thread. :D
You have some nice stuff too really that others don't offer. :aok

Due to the ongoing cost of providing systems that have 12-25 mile range and flight times up to 8 hours (most have 2-4 hours) our equipment starts around 30K (6 mile range 2 hour flight time) to 60-80K 12 mile range 4 hour flight time) and 210K 25 mile range 8 hour flight time, we don't normally provide our systems to the everyday commercial market.
That's our fixed wing segment. Our quad (with cameras to include thermal) would be in the 10K range and 30 minute flight time. We don't really have a large call for these because of the limited flight times.
I have to say that the new DJI Inspire is about the coolest thing I have seen in a while. 18 minute flight time sucks but what a great photography platform. I think its around 3K complete.

Already been done. I personally wouldn't want to be in the center of the blender though.

Oh wow , Cool . Need's to be bigger and close the pilot in .
On a side note if anyone is looking to get into a cheaper build like what I am doing I found a nice site here .
http://multirotormania.com/44-bundles
I ordered this one their .
http://multirotormania.com/multirotor-packages/303-f450-quad-complete-bundle.html . Then I all ready have all my FPV cameras and GPS stuff to go on it . That run you another 500 plus another 300 or more if you don't have the radio transmitter . I'm running the Futaba transmitter 9 channel with a Dragon link long range system on it . Another 300 for the Dragon link .
