Title: .dot Command to Dump Ammo
Post by: Slade on November 27, 2014, 07:33:54 AM
Hello,

Is there a .dot command to drop all the primary or secondary ammo before takeoff (7mm for instance keeping the 20mm cannon ammo)?

If not please add to wishlist.  Right now the only option is just to burn it off.

Sometimes it is useful to stay light as possible!  :old:

Thanks,

Slade  :salute

Someone did the math once and the dumping of ammo netted such a small weight difference to the over all weight that it made no difference to flying. If you think it does, it's all in your head  :devil

No one, I repeat NO ONE on combat operations be it on the ground or in the air has ever knowingly dumped or not taken ammo that they could reasonably have carried.  :old:

Someone did the math ...

I did for one.  Some examples are here (http://www.michael-elliott.com/wikis/ww2planes/index.php?n=Site.GunpackageCost).  Speed does not seem to be effected.

Hey, why would someone want their plane to be 200-500+ pounds lighter?  ;)  If you can arrange your plane to be 500 pounds lighter when it arrives at an area where multiple fighter plane engagements are occurring would you?

Of course the PILOT is the main  factor.  If something such as weight only makes a 5% difference, some of us are nutty enough to want to play with that phenomena once in a while.

Maybe "dumped" was the wrong term.  Let me rephrase the wish:  Would it be possible to have an option choose to take off without 7mm or .303s?

EDIT:

I saw a quote where one of the top German aces did make such in-the-field changes.  Preferring to have 2 x 20mm in his BF-109f etc..  Then again maybe it was never ever done.  Ever!

Hey if this is going to cause a lot of contention no biggie.  Cant hurt to ask right.   :)

Fail

That would be super lamey gamey. Although weight does make a difference to turning circle in aces high. You can bootstrap test it and see.

The only one that should have the ability to dump ammo is gunner positions on a bomber. It was done often to lighten the load for a crippled bomber to further extend range.

It is hardly a priority to implement, as so many other things are far more important.

id rather see them fix the eng off / on gameplay never heard of a fighter shutting eng off in a maneuver fight.
Title: New Loudout Option (no .303s or 7mm)

My bad on using the term "dump".

I am NOT advocating doing this mid-flight.  This wish is functionally a load out option.

I always dump my ammo...

Into my target.
