The option to buy things in-game with real money would be a huge plus for both the players and Hitech. In order to keep the spirit of the game fair, we would like to avoid performance enhancers.
So things like:
Sunglasses... $15. One time fee. (Would be hugely popular)
Skins... $1-$5 a skin. Of course, we don't want this to be all of the skins. Additionally, we could use perks to buy skins!
Gamer tag colors... $5 a color. This can only be done if HT decides to set the main chats, country, local, squad, 200 to specific colors.
Thoughts? Ideas?

Its not for me, I wouldn't spend a dime on any of that. I have far better things to do with my money, heck a six pack is more important than any of that stuff.
On the other hand, I'd be happy to pay $30 a month for my subscriptions if there were more fights and less hordes with more numbers. But that isn't really the way to get those things.

You're one person. Paying for something to make them stand out, is a popular thing among other games. People want to be noticed on the internet for some reason. Here's something to make them feel better about themselves and make HT money.

+1 for micro payments. :aok

Ya heaven forbid someone work at standing out due to skill, lets PAY to stand out. :(

I'll lend you Midway then see how that works out for you.
The idea isn't that crazy just maybe more flexibility on HTC's part lets say $8 dollars for a week sub or $2 for a day. $10 for a month of non late war arena.
-
Once money started flowing that would lead to pay for perk planes then money would control fights.
A big -1
But a perk buy for these things would be interesting.
-

Or maybe it wouldn't.
+1 for the idea.
Maybe even custom skins and the like IF it ends up bringing in more players. I'd rather have more players than being so rigidly aligned to WWII that numbers are too low to routinely find combat.
-
-1 one for any micro-transactions which affect gameplay mechanics (example, pay 1$ get full load of bombs mid-air, pay .75 and your pilot wound is bandaged up.... :bolt:)
I know freemium games are all the rage but there's nothing more depressing than playing a game against those who refuse to play the same game as you (because you don't have the +10 to flaps, or +5% collision avoidance... :O
+1 if these transactions are COSMETIC ONLY in nature, then the revenue would be welcomed by HiTech i'm sure. And hey, it's not like there's a pink spitfire out there or anything... <S> Pepper :neener:

Maybe make it so a select few vehicles, examples would be the F8F, F7F, IS-3, P-80, and Vampire, could be sold as a package for say 15 bucks to unlock them and they still would have a perk price. Here's a way to add in those vehicles that just didn't make it.
-
Clearly you guys don't read the whole OP..
IF this was implemented, I would HOPE that HT wouldn't add micro-payments that effected the outcome of the game... No performance enhancing add-ons. Simply "appearance".

That's how the internet is.. Let them stand out, and still let me shoot them just as easily, fine with me :D

No. It will affect the game play within the arena.
Maybe buy another arena? But you can't effect the game play within the MA.

Bingo, better idea. Forgive me for being half awake. Pay 15 bucks and unlock a 1946-Korea arena. Pay 25 for a late 50s-60s arena :D

Why not! lol
Granted, the time it would take to design the planes would be a while.. I see the additional arena being a while until it's implemented. I'd rather but HT resources towards the MA.

Why not Zoney? It's all optional money making ides for HT that doesn't affect the game play... So you don't have to buy into it personally.

The system you are describing already exists in a game called War Thunder. have fun. :old:
-
-1 I wish HTC the very best in all things but not this. One of the premises of micro payments is that the overall game be lacking (contrived need) or addictive in some way. That is crap. It's what happens when marketeers begin running product development. Once you've paid a buck for a feature you already thought you paid for you might as well go light up a cigarette.
Sorry.

I guess I don't understand why you're all against it?
It's extra money for HTC that YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY. AND DOESNT affect the game play?
-
I'd rather send him a check and a bottle of Scotch than see AH go the way of the micro-purchase model.
Do you understand that?

It's the best way to make money now a days in the gaming world.
I don't understand why you'd say NO when it wouldn't even effect you OR way more importantly the game play.

If adding paid-for obnoxiousness sounds like it doesn't affect other players' online experience to you then I'm of the mind you never will. I don't want a 'rainbow' of tags around me. As for the other stuff - I already own a pair of shades. Paid for them, even. Charging for skins after the game has so many goods ones available for free is more of a player discouragement than encouragement. Pretty sure that won't bring more rev.
If Dale ever hints that the game is in financial crisis, I'll host the drive and write the first check.

we play this game because it's the way it is.. this is our choice.
if we wanted to play a micropayment game, we'd be playing it.
i'm curious if you spend time on competing games' forums suggesting they make their game more like aces high?
-
...if we wanted to play a micropayment game, we'd be playing it.
Something in this rang a bell. There is a time and a place for everything, right? Micro-payments are quite popular with the generation behind us. Can't deny that. So what if HTC created a 'Free' campaign-arena (AI opponents) and kept it separate from the game we play? There's a pile of possibilities behind that, I'm sure. If you pay 99-cents you can have a rudder...ad nauseum. If HTC then markets the real Aces High to the Bizarro players...well...you get the idea. It's one way to draw new players to where the quality is.
Sort of like cigars and beer on Pleasure Island, Pinocchio. Except in this scenario they wouldn't be turned into a mule. Quite the opposite.
Gotta keep thinkin'.

Why don't you guys see the potential in this. There are players out there who are for and against everything, I understand. But you have to evolve to keep current with the generation. Micro-payments are the way of the future.. That's how little phone apps makes millions of dollars.
Now let's put that in the big game of Aces High. BOOM. Major profit.
The key, is to not interfere with the actual game play.
If different colored gamer tags bother you that much, freaking squelch them. As of now, you have Country, Range, Squad, 200... 4 Different colors.. Plus the country colors on map. So there's, let's say at least 5 different colors. If something like different colors bother you, then I have to say something is wrong with you.
I'm not saying that HT HAS to use these options as micro-payments, although I believe they're decent options. But you can maximize profit with micro-payments.
Keep flaming away. I'll rebuttal until I feel defeated.

jolly, step back and seriously look at your wish. then imagine how many people would actually use it. then estimate the developer time needed to implement this. then after you do that. then really think if HT would be willing to add stuff to the current version when he's actually working on a new version.
now we have no idea except for a few pictures of how the final version of ah3 is gonna look. perhaps HT is already thinking of adding sunglasses. perhaps no. as for the tags. what the heck is a different colored gamer tag is? is that a different skin? have you created one? all skins are user created, I think.

You didn't quote me, but in any event I wouldn't have taken offense.
I was looking for a compromise only.
Free 2 Play as a model that uses micropayments is a lie really. It's been debated to death elsewhere on these boards.
Do you really believe that there is no substantive difference between something like War Thunder and Aces High? Or Candy Crush, Angry Birds, or Clash of Clans? Most of the 'protectionism' you've seen here is about protecting the quality of the game. The continued success of a franchise like Aces High is built on a quality product, not gimmicks. Elsewhere I've read that Call of Duty is a franchise because it exploits technology, has a compelling story line, is technically challenging and is packaged with high quality. COD is dutifully maintaining the standards it set for itself over 10 years ago.
That is what you are reading from the Aces High subscribers who have posted here who also believe that the team at HTC has the same goals for quality and a realistic flight model (for a combat game) and that they have already built a franchise on.
I still like my suggestion, because I believe that once people see the quality they could be getting, they would give up the notion that a dollar will buy them an 'edge' and become subscribers.
I don't know how it will play out. I'm an older fellow. I can remember my own father's reaction to my American Flag T-shirt. I thought it was patriotic in a funky kind of way. He saw it as a desecration of the flag.
F2P is like self-gratification in my view. It's a poor substitute for the real thing.

I believe a lot of these newcomers that will come when we get the new graphics, will buy into this. The whole gaming world now a days thrives on micro-payments. It's not a "new idea" for these current generation players. Like I've said before, people want to stand out on the internet.. This is a way for the to do so WITHOUT ruining the games integrity. Gamer Tags are your games ID.. Mine is JRjolly. Now imagine I pay $1 to make it say, purple. People WILL buy that. It's inevitable. It's a way for people to possibly notice them.
@Ratsy
No I didn't quote you because I know other people have the same opinion. BUT, I KNOW for a fact that Aces High is completely different than WT... We have the better game. We'll be even better once this new graphics engine comes out. So let's say we copy WTs "Game" persay. Their micro-payments, graphics and everything else. We keep our game, but add all that.
Basically our planes/physics/game style. Add their graphics and micro-payments. Now who is the better game, and who will be making the more money.. We'll draw their players in. That'll be inevitable.
-
I have a copy of Warbirds 1.1 and a copy of Aces High 2.77...
Y'all need to take a chill pill...
No matter what you see on your monitor, it's the underlying code that makes a game great.

why not just go over to WT's wishlist forum and suggest they change to be more like aces high?
-

Because their game is WAY too arcade like.. It's not a "flight simulator". It's, hey let's fly around in F3 mode in fighters and dogfight B17s.
Lol
Pretty obvious why I'm here and not at WT

There's a substantial difference to gameplay though. This is open world freeform. WT is rounds based. That is a major difference that negates a large portion of the players. Also, has it occurred to you that perhaps people might actually LIKE to fly in F3 mode and dogfight B17s?
By your logic, we should all be headed over to DCS because it's even more realistic than this. More realism is better, right?
This game exists in a weird twilight between more arcade games like WT, and more hardcore sims like DCS. The level of realism is just right for the people who are here in that it has more realistic physics compared to stuff like WT but doesn't get bogged down in the engine management etc like DCS.
A lot of people seem to think there's just this gigantic playerbase over at WT that is just DYING to get in here but they don't know about this game. I disagree. The gameplay is so different the carryover would be small. No F3 mode and the more challenging FM is not desirable for many people.
People don't play games because they have micropayments, they play them because the gameplay is good and what they want. This is a niche game within a niche genre.
The only way I'd be ok with this suggestion is if there was a checkbox called 'classic view' that ignored all this custom gamertag/skin crap and allowed it to appear normal. I don't want to be trying to figure out in the middle of a dogfight if that dusty rose or fuchsia icon means friend or enemy.

But who wants to pay $50 to fly JUST a 109K.. When you can pay $15 to fly all of our planes. Aces High has a great balance between DCS and WT. With the new graphics engine we'll be even more balanced between the two. Once the games gets all it's new shiny upgrades, I'm sure HiTech is going to advertise. And those players will gradually move over to Aces High. It won't be instantaneous, but word will get around that our game is amazing. Yes, I believe there could be a check box that turns on/off the colored ID tags. OR how about applying that colored ID tag to the forums?
Keep laying it on me :devil
