Title: Let's Place Ords in bunkers.
Post by: Lucifer on December 10, 2014, 12:02:36 PM
Would be more logical, as bombs/rockets are VITAL: They are needed to defend an airfield, and to attack another.
Atm, a single plane, without rockets, bombs...can blow them and ruin dozens of ppl fun.

P.S: No, actual Ords buildings arent "bunkers", a bunker cant be destroyed by machine-gun fire. :rock

Def:"A bunker is a defensive military fortification designed to protect people or valued materials from falling bombs..."

You're fighting an uphill battle.  Actually, you're fighting a battle you can't win.

Over the years there have been countless threads with countless ideas and reasons as to why MG fire should NOT be able to bust up a 4ft (or more) steel reinforced concrete bunker, but alas here we still are destorying ammo bunkers with a single pass of a P51's MG fire.

I've vouched since I've started playing the game back in Jan 2008 that having the same amount of dmg required to destory a town building, a fuel tank, an ammo bunker, a radar tower, and a plywood/canvass barracks is a bit (ok, WAAAAAY) over-simplified. I'm told the reason for that is to allow for the **extreme** most number of planes and gv's in the game to be able to get the job done.

Sure, valid point and point taken. But still.... I think there should be some measurable difference between barracks made of plywood and canvass, and a 4ft thick steel reinforced concrete bunker.  The same goes for the giant church building and the 8x8 ft shack in the town.

Maybe with the upcoming engine, stuff like this will be addressed?  I hope so.

you mean with the armies advancing/retreating pretty fast during ww2 they had time to have fuel/ammo bunkers with 4 foot thick walls?  I thought they were more like out in the open with perhaps a little cammo.

Not just in forward areas but also in bases in the rear.  This is an ammo dump at a base in the CBI.

This is a British forward ammo dump in England that was used by a couple of nearby air bases.

Will a 50 cal or cannon fire from an attacking plane exploded a bomb unarmed?

Would it be better if the model of the ord bunker was changed to a stack of bombs and instead of being abreviated AMB it would be abreviated as SOB?

Can AP icendary round penetrate a bomb shell.  If it can and there is TNT in the bomb it will go off.  Watch gun cam films of them strafing train cars.  So of those went up in huge explosions.
