Title: unable t o open settings/login.cfg
Post by: Sonicblu on December 13, 2014, 12:46:16 PM
I keep getting unable to open settings/login.cfg

if I hit ok and try to log into arena I get

Problem occurred while retrieving ahiiterr/ozkansas.res.

if I reload game. I can log into arena but every time I click on something I get

file error

unable to open settings/spit9.

Also I get message saying unable to download skins could be read only file.

Any help? Thanks.

See if the folder and file properties read only box is checked.

thanks I tried that didn't change anything as far as I can tell.

I re downloaded the game and don't have the problem the first time I run program.

Only when I quit game and try and relog on later.

Did you use an old settings folder? If so try renaming it and letting AH create a new one.

Sounds like ownership issues.  Try installing the game in a brand new folder.

Make sure the game isn't installed in any flavor of the Windows "Program Files" folder - Windows likes to screw with user access to anything inside them. I think the default location is C:\HitechCreations or something...for this very reason. Mine is installed in C:\Games\AcesHigh.

If you are smart, you never install any application in "Program Files".  Windows Vista, and later, does bad things to anything in that folder.

I have two basic folders.  "Programs" and "Games" as to where I install all applications.
