Title: MY Xmas Present
Post by: ebfd11 on December 23, 2014, 04:43:49 PM
I have 1/2 hour flight in a ww2 T6 trainer .. I got this gift today and I will be taking advantage of it. Gift certificate says while in the air I get to take over the controls.

Can't wait to do this... momma was real nice to me.

Got one of those a couple of years ago. Got screwed. Never got to do it. But that's Chicago for ya.

Enjoy the flight, should be a blast.

Fantastic present, be sure to take some pics/video if you have a camera and the pilot will allow it - then you can share your great gift with everyone later (ie, us).

I took a similar ride in a Harvard years ago, very similar aircraft, the Canadian/British variant pretty much.  Louder than I had expected, but smoother as well - the gentleman who owned that plane and used to sell rides in the yellow pages in Calgary unfortunately passed on, but 15 years ago it was a fantastic value for the $.

Warbird Adventures out of Kissimmee?

If so, great bunch of people. Flew there twice when I was a kid. My first time I think I was 12 and had to sit on a phone book or something lol. You can get video and pictures of the flight from on board cameras, but it was like $50, though my guess is that it is closer to $100 now.

I got one of these for my B-day back in 2010 out of Winchester VA.   It took months for the ear-to-ear grin to wear off my face.  :devil

My ride included a video from the tail and cockpit camera.   You don't want to take anything loose with you...if you have a go-pro...mount it on your head.  Also be aware that you will be sitting a few FEET off the bottom of the plane....if you drop something.....you will not be able to retrieve it until you are on the ground.

Dials and gauges were just like the game...easy to identify and read.  She responds much smother and nicer than any AH cartoon plane I have ever flown.

Enjoy the ride...and eat "light" before your ride.   I recommend banana's...they taste the same coming up as they do going down.  LOL.
