Title: Something new
Post by: ONTOS on December 24, 2014, 03:39:16 PM
I would like to see airfields with grass runways or the steel hole plank runways.  New maps would be a nice touch.
OK, let the abuse begin.

Or perforated steel planks as it is known.

i definitely know i've operated from grass runways in special events so all we need is hitech to allow whatever textures/objects used in special events into main arena maps..

Not a new wish, but I agree whole-heartedly. I'd love to see these, especially for the smaller fields.

I'd also like to see crushed coral for PTO-themed maps.

Also, some fun facts about Marston Matting:

Each piece of M8 planking was about 10ft long, and 15in wide, and weighed ~66lbs.

Over two million tons of it was manufactured. That's over sixty million feet of planking.

If you were to line up every length of it ever manufactured end to end, it would stretch roughly 11,478 miles. That's HALF WAY around the globe.

And that's just the M8 planking.

They are all ready completed in the alpha testing, both steal and grass runways are used.

Something I also really have wanted to see a long time! Great to hear that grass strips are coming!

Many have seen this but here's what can be done with a present version of AH:

Kymi airbase dirtstrip from Kanttori's beautiful Karelia terrain.

Soviet air base near Leningrad from the same map:

Both are very accurately based on WWII-era recon photos.

Speaking of whom, where did Kanttori get to?

Can you nab him and bring him back?  He needs to get with USRanger and Easyscor.

Awesome news, but....no crushed coral?

Poor PTO gets the short end again.
