Hey guys,
My 970 came in yesterday. I reinstalled Windows, just to get a clean drive for max performance, and installed the 970. I booted up AH to see what, if any, differences there were. All settings were set to max allowed, with the exception of environment updating (that is left to off).
With those settings, my FPS fluctuates between 50-55 FPS. I'm running an ASUS 24" 60Hz monitor, so I know it's not capping the frame-rate.
My system specs are as follows:
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard
Intel i2500K, stock (3.3GHz)
Corsair 8GB DDR 1600MHz
Gigabyte 970 GTX, G1 Gaming video card
Samsung 840 Pro SSD, 256GB
Corsair AX850 850W PSU
Now while the new card performs MUCH better in other games than my previous AMD 6970 2GB card, there's little difference in Aces High.
Any insight?

Just got my ASUS GTX970 STRIX OC Edition and installed it yesterday. In the MA I'm running no less that 69 fps in heavy action and up to 130 with light action. Check you drivers, Skyrr, I'm using the 344.** from the NVIDIA site. Which card did you get? That is with EVERYTHING maxed and some setting overridden in the NVidia control panel to increase the looks.

I'm fairly certain that's the same driver I'm using. What processor are you running? Also, what screen resolution?
I'm running the Gigabyte G1 Gaming card.

Overclock your CPU. You have a K model and you're not overclocking? You're wasting money.
The current version of AH is more CPU dependent than GPU so a little OC may give you the last missing fps.

Have to agree with this. OC just to the point where you don't have to increase voltage... more bang for your buck.

So in doing some research, it appears you guys have V-Sync off?
Also, is there a reason why with both the AMD 6970 and the Nvidia 970, there's less than 10MB of video memory used? Ctrl+I shows the usage average at ~7.9MB.

I'm currently playing with an intel quad core 4ghz and Nvidia 970 with 4gb memory. SYstem has 16gb of 1800mhz memory.
Old system was bought in 2009 with an Nvidia 7 series with 1 gb of memory.
I can't really tell a difference between the two when playing Aces High. The only difference is now I can use full environmental update and shadow on others.

Only for testing. During gameplay you should keep it on.

Also I do believe they have 144 htz monitors they are using.

Vsinc off to test frame rate, then back on to protect monitor/tv. Running on a 60" SamSung LED.
Specs are:
MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo
Intel Core i7 4770K @ 4.3 mhz water cooled
8 gigs Corsair Vengance ddr3
ASUS GTX 970 STRIX OC
Toshiba 128 gb SSD for OS and programs
WD 2Tb for storage
LG Bluray burner player with a XION 1Kb power supply
You cpu should overclock easily and it won't normally hurt anything as long as you have good cooling and case air flow

Just to make sure all has been done that has to be done:
While reinstalling Windows, did you also install all of the motherboard drivers? The generic drivers installed by Windows are just for getting your system running for further adjustments. As MrRipley said, having Vsync off is only for testing how much headroom you have, for instance checking whether your system could run a 144 Hz monitor at its full capability. If your frame rate is way below 60, there'd be no diffenence with Vsync off.
Your computer should be able to run AH at a solid 60 FPS without overclocking with the settings you mentioned. I get mostly a solid 60 fps with my much older and weaker system, with the exception of some single spots where the mapmaker has put a truckload of polygons in one place.
A dxdiag output might help.
