Title: Wingman command wish...
Post by: puller on January 22, 2015, 08:15:48 PM
2cmex suggested that when you type .wingman XXXX it will send an accept window just like when you type .join XXXX....that way you know who is trying to "be your wingman" and whether or not you want them to be your wingman   :salute

How about a system message in the chat buffer instead of the window....too many times these things have blocked a shot.

but +1 for sure.

I would expect this new "join" feature being subject to the same .showjoin 0 command as the gunner join feature ;)

(I just wished the squad invite box could be suppressed the same way).

How does it affect you?

I can trail someone closely, acting as a wingman, without the need for their icon to be white or the ability to slave my auto-pilot to theirs.

Are you asking for people to request permission to fly close to you?

I think they want to know who wants to keep track of them.

Yup

Ok. I still don't understand the practical use for this feature. So I refuse a request. That person can still find me on the map, just not as easily.

Sounds to me like this will make it harder for you follow your enemy that you are shade stalking...

Do you even play anymore????

sure do sir, whenever I can!

Just wondered if that was the true aim of this wish; to identify shade accounts. Which sorta means this wish is actually a "it's unfair that this player pays twice as much as me to gain an advantage "wish"... Or more frustratingly; harass a player or players.

I'm still learning about the seedy underbelly of this game.  :uhoh

I use .wingman on my squadmates all the time and switch between them. It would be a nuisance if they had to confirm it everytime and less useful for me if I had to wait till they would confirm it.

I switch wingmen all the time too...but the slight inconvenience would keep me from being able to wingman bozon without his knowledge and watch him fly around the map with my other account and let me and my squaddies prey on him... :noid

Instead of holding hands to get kills, try fighting solo.... no wingman is needed

And your beast holds it's own hand and shoots out of both ends.

I have no problem with that. I am already one of the easiest players to ID and a gang magnet anyway.

I sometimes use it when joining other players on the same mission.
Get close, tag the wingman, speed stabilises, go manual to tighten up then tag again.
Rinse and repeat till everyone's in the box.

You can also see the yard difference between what you see and another player sees due to lag.
So I heard....

But I agree with JunkyII that it should be a system message in the text buffer. I think Knowing is enough, need to accept is probably overkill.

But, but, what about that newbie who suddenly falls in love with you and wants to follow you everywhere without you noticing he's tagged you? He want's to watch everything you do and hear everything you say and read everything you write. What about the poor newbs.......Oh!!! the pooorrrr NEWBS........

OK, how about this:
The next player that steals a kill from me, I'll keep spamming his with .wingman accept requests.

How about adding the feature, in any form (pop up or system message), but putting in an option to turn off the notifications if you don't care about them?

+1 and correlate it with .squelch so if you have someone squelched they can't spam you with .wingman invites. I'm surprised this hasn't been done with .join

Make it a selectable option. It would be a pain for mission leaders.
