Title: Using Visa Vanilla Gift Card
Post by: Chilli on January 23, 2015, 06:43:54 PM
This has been my preferred method of payment for some time, and usually has not presented any problems with the server not being able to accept it as payment.  Today, however I tried several times and checked the numbers carefully and even dug up my payment receipt to verify the cashier had wrung it in properly.

In the past, I have had to register gift cards online to activate it.  I was wondering if there were new guidelines for using gift cards for payment or did I just get a bad break for some reason?

I am having another family member to register the card in their name, due to another online application that will require the card to be registered in their name.  The only reason that I haven't already tried this as a fix.  (Also raises the question, will the registered name other than mine be a problem for HTC?)

Gift cards can be tricky sometimes.  Usually if it has a valid expiration date, it will work, but not always.  The error will depend on who is failing it in the chain.  The merchant bank, or the issuing bank, as those are the ones who control that.

Contact Carrie (billing@hitechcreations.com) and she can get into the nuys and bolts of the transaction to find out where it might be failing.

Thanks,

No need to contact Carrie, the card worked when I got home this morning (probably something done by my daughter after I went to work, as I am certain it was some sort of banking snafu.   :headscratch:  Hmmmm, I bought the card from a local Family Dollar Store.  I heard they had just recently been purchased by another company......  probably nothing to do with that, but I think I will try and not go the same route in the future, just in case.
