Guam is a beautiful island.  I spent two years there when I was 14.  My father flew "juju" a 727 back in the day with Continental Airlines.  If memory serves me they only operated two 727's around the Micronesia Islands.  There are wrecks all over.  If you have time, venture deep into the jungle.  You will be amazed at what you see.

Just be careful there's a lot of unexploded ordinance especially on the old parts of the base that are leaking

My friend in on Guam right now.  He is a certified weld inspector building a pipeline from Anderson AFB to the Naval Base.  His name is Josh Lassiter.  If you see him, tell him Dave Bunch said "Hi".

My old man served with the USN Seabees and was stationed on Guam.  After the war ended one of their jobs was the construction of a large pier or breakwater.  He described in some detail how they used surplus equipment--everything from jeeps and tractors, various bits of equipment, even perfectly good aircraft--as fill, then covered it in dirt and concrete and continued moving farther out away from land in that manner.  Perhaps some of that stuff is still entombed down there waiting to be dug up some day.

My grandfather was there after Okinawa as he was in 6th Marine Division, 29th Regiment.  Then he went to Tsingtao until July 1946.   I still have his P38, belt buckle and a postcard sent from Tsingtao.
