Ptero founded / named us around nov. 1987... but as a full functional squad we were established in 1988, if my memory serves me right.... I know the discussion of our date of origin has been discussed several times, so we stick with the 1988 year of establishment
I was asked to join the Damned several times from 1995 through 1997, and even was asked to join the Muskies 1 or 2 times back during AOhell days... I eventually became Damned when SM (Snowman) took his Eagles squadron back to the Damned in 97 or 98 or something like that..... while JD was the current CO of the Damned...... I took the "Damned" squadron name to Fighter Ace in ver.99 while it was in beta and in version FA 1.0 when it went public.... I left right before Fighter Ace ver1.5 and the Damned in Fighter ace was reformed.....
Kanth went to the Muskies right about the same time I joined the Eagles then became Damned....Rapier and Dragon use to whip Kanth and my rearends during late night/early mornings in AW FRarena....... both Muskies and Damned trained me (and Boozer from the 4th FG also helped train me )
lot of money blow-ed on these darn flight sim games over the 20+ years I have been playing them.....
cheers

There's a name I haven't seen in a while. Kanth got me into the Muskies after she joined. Good times.

According to Grits, the Gunfighters (the AvA squad) goes back to the 1980s. Wish I'd saved his account, Pyro was in the squad back in AW days.

Thanks! We are a squad of old friends, men I would never have come across in my life that I've since met for meals, drinks and countless flights in virtual skies. Amazing what a game can do.

Thanks All. It's been a long and winding ro-ad; In the game and in life. I'm fortunate to have had the privilege to share it with some folks I consider great friends, friends I have never met in the flesh but hope to do some day before my number comes up.
Perhaps, even in death, if my soul is lucky enough to climb upward, St. Peter greet me kindly and usher me into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN. I wouldn't be surprised if he has seen one or two muskies already. Not inside the gate but outside, loitering around at max operational ceiling in P51-D models, waiting to dive back down into the MA and aggravate the Cz and B... I mean rooks and bishops.
And thank you to all in Aces High and Air Warrior that helped bring some joy into my rather mundane life. You've been a big part of it regardless if you know it or not.
If you see a low and wallowing Yak9-T, give him a break and fly into his gunsites for old times sake. I've forgotten what it feels like to get a kill!

Thanks Crabby! Thanks All! 0===[@=======-
The Muskies have been continuously operating in some game for all that time. Airwarrior, Fighter Ace, and Aces High. It seems both longer and shorter than it is. Good to see so many of the old farts still kicking around from those days when AW used turn credit cards to ashes at 300 baud :). TC its always been a pleasure flying in your airspace!
The Muskies have been a constant, a band of brothers that some of whom I've never met in the flesh but know, really know, because of how they are under pressure. People outside wouldn't get the pressure of a "game". They don't understand the "hunting group" dynamics of folks relying on each other to do the right thing at the right time.
I'm a one and done kinda guy. One handle, one squad, for nearly a quarter century. Three different games in 3 different eras. Looking back you have the perspective of time. You remember a lot and you forget a lot. What you do remember is the good ones, the good folks, the good fights. That's probably what it should be.
To the good ones!

Thanks Crabby and all the rest! :salute The Muskies were founded on Feb. 23rd, 1990, which means we're actually coming up on our 25th Anniversary in about 3 weeks, unless my abacus is wrong. :old:
What keeps a squad alive so long? Well... fiber... lots of fiber... :D :aok Seriously though, I'll sign off with a link to a page on our site that was written for our 20th anniversary by Rapier's wife. It sums up what has been my privilege to be a part of for over twenty years: http://www.musketeers.org/?p=186 (http://www.musketeers.org/?p=186).

Thank you all! --)-Salute!---
What year is it? :) 19 straight years for me in squad WW1 Musketeers and WW2 FR Musketeers and now Aces High with a bunch in between. Special Thanks to Kumori who for a long time was letting Rapier take a little break. And the Rapier aka.,Bossman well his outstandingness in who he is shall not be tarnished - to love him is to ... you know!
The group has changed my life with jobs and friendships and fun for all this time, amazing group of guys that I am eternally grateful for having been allowed to chat with all this time :)
We have generations in our squad which is something amazing as well!
Our standards of being a good person first helped us stay together where so many others have been lost to history, I say congrats to TC and the Damned as well for their long history!

Congrats, Muskies! :) I enjoyed Mrs. Rapier's letter. :)
It's great that so many of you are still playing after all this time. It was nice to see the names when I came back to the virtual skies.
22 years for the FreeBirds? Wow...had no idea!
Ok, 20 years for the Nomads this year...some are still playing in various games, and many of us still keep in touch. :) And at least one is a Muskie! hehe

Thanks Mir! Mrs. Rapier's letter still gets to me.
Congrats to the FBs, Nomads and The Darned ;-). Now if we could just get the Turkey Hams and a few of the other primordial squads up and flying again, the "Rise of the Old Geezers" would be complete. We dinn' ned no stencken interred to play back in our day! Why, a few tincans and some string was good enou.... umm... never mind. :old:
