Title: KV-2 Russky Monster!
Post by: Alucard_II on February 06, 2015, 03:11:24 PM
Another Wish by Allie  :t

This time, a GV.
Not too many Russian GVs ive noticed, if any at all if I remember right.
The Germans have their heavies, we Russky fans need our heavies  :t

And this is where I post my insane idea of a vehicle... today, its all about the
KV-2 Heavy Tank
Stronkest in all of de motherland! We destroy those fascist pig tanks! No problemo! Wheres my vodka Ivan!

But in all seriousness, I believe the KV-2 would be a first step in providing a counter to the dreaded Tiger line, at least in GV standards.

The KV-2, when it was put into action, was one of the most fearsome tanks a german tank crew could imagine coming across. With a mighty 152mm cannon, they will be sent back to the fatherland screaming uncle.

This is my favorite ground vehicle of WW2, and I'd very much like to see this, or even its little brother, the KV-1, introduced into AH. We no longer would have to rely on a well placed air strike to take down that pesky Tiger II camping spawn  :D

The KV-2 had insane armor for its era. Ive heard that the Germans had to come up with crews on the eastern front, specially designed to take down the beast.

Now, up till now, ive said how its amazing. Now, some problems to counter-act and even the playing field for a tank on the receiving end...

The KV-2 had a monstrous turret. Something like 8-10 feet tall. This is because of the gun. The 152 was a howitzer, so it had to be pretty big. Although, there were some versions that had the turret shrunk down as much as they could make it.

And of course, your wikis

Just scroll till u see KV-2, doesnt have its own article for some reason.

it would be interesting to have in an early arena, but sucked against most late axis tanks

Yep, would be an easy target for almost all tanks in MA. It cannot defend itself either since the howizer would be useless against tanks. It had impressive armor against Panzer III and earlier but in the MA it would not live long.
KV-1 had the same gun as T34/76 and would be no more succesful against a tiger 2.
JS-2 would be a better option.

The KV-2 doesn't carry enough ammunition to be effective in the game despite the range of its gun.

EDIT: My opinion would change if there was some way to operate as a proper armor platoon.

Under the current AH play list, the Su-100 tune would be a much bigger hit than the KV1/2. The KV would be the slowest tank in the game by 5-6 mph, and the gun would be either the weakest of the weak mid caliber main guns (the Soviet 76mm is the worst in terms of AP outside of 1200 yards, inside 1200 yards it can match other tanks using HVAP).

So... with all than in mind, the Su-100 would be a much better use of HTC's recources.
